GD is the new F&I

And pink is the new black, etc.

I get that the Incarna debacle was an acceptable reason for a bunch of "DO THIS" and "FIX THAT" posts in General Discussion, but since then a bunch of ahem... creative minds... have decided that they will use "General Discussion" for what "Features and Ideas Discussion" is supposed to do -- proposing new features and ideas, discussing them, etc. So I guess all I have to say is:

Why are you people doing this?

I am aware of the sentiment that "F&I is where good ideas go to die", but while GD will attract you more attention, it will also bury your posts in the mire of "Rate the character above you" and other such stuff. On top of that, it's more full of trolls.

Please go to F&I to post your ideas for features!

An auxiliary question is also, why are those ideas not getting moved to F&I by forum admins?

I was not aware "butthurt" was a noun. And yes, I do enjoy being pedantic.

If it was just for trolling I'd understand -- GD is troll central; for reference, see your post. But I don't think that's it.

Oh no, did I fall for your troll? Am I a butthurt now?

As far as I know devs try not to comment on the F&I forum. You are much more likely to get a dev response in GD, that's why many people post here. Second reason might be that simply more people view your thread here, since GD is the /b/ of eve.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Perhaps. Though, I don't think I'd submit any bright ideas I have to /b/ even if there was a chance for the gods of awesome ideas to comment on it. And no offense to CCP, but they are not the gods of awesome ideas.

Edit: I fail at forums.

Which leads to the conclusion that CCP doesn't read it, because if you read something you should always comment amirite? /sarcasm

How rude! You clearly haven't actually read it, or you would be compelled to comment.

I was right there with ya on your first post, but then you posted this drivel. I'm removing my like....

(And yes, you appear to have a plethora of the noun butthurt)

Nooo, my likes, anything but that Cry. "Drivel" is a good word. I gotta remember that one and use it.

They do it because very few people lurk in F&I as compared to GD. By posting in GD, there is a much higher chance that their idea will be heard and actually put into effect.

Edit: Yes, butthurt is a noun.

If it's a game mechanic change, the players reading it are not the ones putting the idea into effect. CCP is. CCP set up F&I to get input from other players on what to work on. As such, they are (or they better be) reading it. They just happen to not comment.

The people who hang out in F&I are also open to new ideas and actually want to discuss and improve the game.

By posting ideas in GD, they still never get posts from CCP saying "hey, that's a good idea" (CCP just doesn't do that). You also may have your idea trolled by those whom it would hurt if implemented, on top of having it refuted by the :logics beam: of various forum warriors.

That's where they fail though, without even knowing it.

You see, it's a subtle test for amateur game designer wannabes. If you can't even properly categorize your own forum post within the eleventy-hundred sub forums we have here, you probably lack the attention to detail and forethought required to have produced a good feature or idea in the first place.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.
