is it me or are murder suicides getting too common?

I cannot speak for the US but they are definitely getting more common in the UK, its not a perception thing either because they get reported extensively each time it happens here. Most of them seem to fathers going berserk and killing their wife or ex partner and their own kids.

As I understand it, the logic goes something like this: "I'm going to kill myself. But what's that going to do to the kids? They'll forever be scarred by my suicide. They'd be better off if I took them with me so that they weren't growing up with all that baggage..." and it just snowballs from there into killing everyone in the room.

That, or they're so angry over some family dispute that they decide to do as much damage as they can on their way out just out of spite. Like a father killing his kids before he kills himself because his estranged wife won custody.

Emotions lead to some twisted, stupid decisions.

More common for wannabe gangesters in london blowing each other away or going on a slashing spree.

My plan is to turn one of the scottish islands off the west coast into a giant prison and just dump all the chavs in there.

No he means chavs and every other member of the criminal underclass we have over here. Race has very little to do with it because the trouble makers come from every ethnic group.

So like before cept with less Kangaroos.

There is a reason things are like this, go back in time to the late 1980s and early 1990s. The economy was shattered by experimental economic policies the Tories tried (monetarism) and very little investment was poured into the criminal justice system, the police, prison service and education system.

There where not enough courts to process cases and nowhere to put people either on remand or convicted, the laws where changed so prisoners where guaranteed release after only serving half their sentence and could be released as early as one third of the sentence. Economic pressures and a soaring inflation dramatically increased unemployment and pushed many families below the poverty line.

Failures in the education system meant many young people had no investment in their own future and little hope of employment when they did leave school.

So we came to the early 90s, we had lower class families living in crumbling social housing estates with many on benefits because they had no other options, many turned to drink or drugs. This left their children growing up with little to no education and failing family cohesion, they had no role models, no respect for authority and no future.

As these issues grew the police where to under funded to deal with it and even when they did justice took months and because the courts had nowhere to put them they got non custodial sentences, the ones that did go to prison didn't spend long in there either.

Soon those early generations of proto chavs had their own children (teenage pregnancies soared) which where a little bit worse than the previous generation, and then they had their own children and so on. Each generation got a little bit worse until we are where we are.

Labour tried to dump money into the police and education system but it was to late, the police still couldn't cope and where hampered by epic levels of bureaucracy and the proto chavs where too out of control too bother with eduction. The Labour government simply failed to make any impact on the problem.

Now we have another Torie government which is slashing funding to everything once again, the nation never recovered from it last time and I hate to see where we will be in another 20 years time.
