If pvp is your goal, then solo casual wh life is not for you - except possibly Thera. Scanning chains to find targets takes time and dedication.

There were some threads/blogs about living in a WH using an Orca as a base a few years ago. Is that still a thing or was there a patch that made it less feasible?

I've been doing exactly that for a couple of months.

It's risky, of course. But I like it. No SOV games, no POS refueling. I have a bunch of ships for different things. A lot of space to store lewts and ninja-mined gas.

The main downside seems to be that since the system I am in looks empty, people keep moving in and putting up towers. I need to think of a disincentive strategy, just in case I find a hole I really like.

Interestingly, I've had a couple of offers from small WH corps to join them. I've been surprised how willing people are to chat in w-space. It's like someone just needs to go first. I'm not crazy about it, though. I know that for every 1 person I chat up there are 100 cloaky Proteuses trying to track me down using only D Scan, so I make sure I'm pretty well hidden before revealing myself in Local.

And verily did Bob say unto me, "Yo, Dawg, I heard you like wormholes so I put wormholes in your wormhole." And it was good.

I understood 'casual' as in infrequent and unpredictable play times, not general noobishness. w-space hunting is actually faster to do when you live in w-space... log on, scan the guaranteed statics plus as many more holes as you have time for, log off. When based in hisec this process is much less reliable because you may not find any wormholes, or only ones of an undesired class. The systems you do find are usually k162s previously opened and guarded by the inhabitants, so little chance to surprise anyone. If you scan a hole from wspace there is a good chance that you are the one opening it.

For pve the advantage is even bigger because you enter wspace systems from the 'inside' and have a higher chance to farm sites in peace. If you enter from hisec, there is a pretty big chance that others will enter the same way. (Not to mention farming in your home system which is even much safer on average.)

99% of solo or very-small-scale corps are too timid to even try take someone else's system by force.

Just no one could be bothered to kill your dickstar without moving in and bulding a dread first.

Generally you don't have to bash a POS to make very small corps go away. Moving in is often enough to make them pack their stuff. Next step is disrupting their bearing, regularly opening the statics and afk-cloaking in the system. Most solo or very small-scale people are in it just for the ISK and will evacuate when they cannot make ISK in peace.

Of course there are stubborn exceptions. Then a dread is indeed useful ^^

Just find yourself a empty c2 with nullsec and c5 static. Setup a small tower. And ninja gas once a month to pay for fuel

I'm pretty sure last time I ran into Blue Fire, that's exactly what they were doing, except with a fleet of 8 domis, 4 marauders and 15 faction large towers.

The first person in eve that's a woman pretending to be a man. My old lady doubles everything too! If i spent 11 dollars on something for myself she says it was 20.

8 domis is actually 4 domis .. they are all mine, 4 marauders .. ok it's plausible we had 4 marauders on dscan at any time, and your 15 large faction towers is more like 9 with a mix of medium and large...but that was then and this is now ... Cry
