Welcome to Adeel, Demerius

He was in a pretty foul mood after having his godawful vexor melted inside 30 seconds.

I tried to help him, linked him a proper fit tossed out some pointers. He just told me his friends were gonna get me.

I like that area of space but the local pirate toll booth in Groothese is kind of a hassle.

Like I said, gotta keep an eye on those backwater systems.

Excellent write up, but those chars you killed are 4 month, 1 month and 1 week old respectively with no fitting/combat experience. For me that would be a zero achiev feeling, but we are all different.

To me it is more of an achievement than dropping a gang of gank t3s on a ratter or site runner.

It is really not hard to figure out how to kill one ship when you have three people. I was flying better fits than that at one month and this is my first EVE character. The game makes it very clear that jumping out of highsec is dangerous. Jumping into lowsec in a bad fit Rattlesnake needs to be stopped before he starts adding officer mods.

Given my relationship with the loot fairy, it would have just made me angry when zero out of ten bling mods dropped.

Right well 1st of all if you look at their fits you can surely realize they were very new and inexperienced. An yes blobbing involves no skill as well.

On the other hand when I look at your first two losses when you started in dec 2013 and only 9 days in game you were a fitting master:

Atron

Algos

So nine days into the game you knew how to fit even proper rigs. No mix tank; no mix guns. Sorry good sir I will have to call BS on this being your 1st char.

It's not like proper fits are hard to figure out, there's tons of resources available for new players.

Some people never had proper start in the game when you need to make ISK, learn things and get experience from your losses (some of these losses could be embarassing but they ARE your own losses!).

Talked to my friend recently. He started the game in 2012 used buddy invite program. Got 500 million ISK right from start. Jumped to FW and got proper training. Learning implants from begin, pirate battleships after 2 months....

Comparing it to my own start back in December 2009.... I have used triple-tank(!), mixed guns and did stupid things. Helped to test tank in Dodixie, died in WH with 2 ships at the same time Lol

For me starting this way shows the game better than just 'create alt, receive 500 million ISK, go to FW, read fits, read tactics, play'.

I can't prove that this is my first character I guess but it's true.

It's not that hard to figure out the basics by listening to older players and looking at killmails that pop up in various channels.

I remember there was a guy in my starting corp that liked to take groups of newbies into level 4 missions in blobs of frigates. That was a learning experience for fitting and also for things like tracking and speed/sig tanking. I was running level 4s solo in a little over a month in a Brutix (albeit slowly and I lost a couple). I also had an unfortunate run in with a ninja salvager wherein I learned some more valuable lessons about tracking (seemed strange to me at the time that a ship as big as a cruiser could get under medium guns) and about how the whole suspect baiting game works.

I also started reading the forums and various blogs, gave up mining on my third day because it was like having a second job, and took a few frigates into lowsec where I survived long enough to learn that almost everything there would in fact try to murder me, and that it's pretty hard to get caught in a frig or dessie if you actually use dscan and don't get unlucky on gates.

TLDR It's not hard to figure out the basics of this game by reading, paying attention, and flying around doing stuff instead of parking a venture in a belt for your first month. The way the game works now, people that do nothing but mine for 3 months and then ship into something they haven't the knowledge or SP to use effectively are going to learn a hard lesson at SOMEONE's hand. May aswell be mine.

This is my first character. Check my post history you'll see that bitching about bittervet elitism and alt-blobs is something of a hobby.

Also I don't know if I would call those masterful fits. They do underscore the fitting challenges facing a new player though.
