Greetings,

I thought it would be nice to have a NPC service where you can hire their convoys to move your items to one location or more during downtime. It sure would save a lot of time and make the game more profitable for the market side of the game.

The only reason moving stuff to another location is profitable is that someone has to move it (It takes time and time is isk). Removing this means removing the profit.

Like downtime is really that much of a problem anymore?

This has been brought up in numerous variations already.

The answer all have in common, is ...

It's a really bad idea. First of all should NPCs not do a players job.
Second should NPcs not take away another players's business. (couriers)
Third does it make no sense that item magically get moved during downtime.

This is never ever going to happen,
because it makes no sense to implement it.

Sounds great !

So for example if you achieved +10.0 standing to an NPC corp they could move your stuff as a favor to you.
Or if you've been running courier missions for ages and became a good fella of npc agent, so could ask him in your turn to move some stuff arround during DT.

+1

I fully support this as long as it's true +10.0

That's a great idea. I also think we should implement a service that mines out an entire belt during DT based on mining mission standings. And a service that will rf a pos during DT for the security missions

It will come. CCP already announced their rough plans for NPC convoys to ferry stuff around the player built structures to compensate for the fundamental flaw they pose.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

And so long as NPC courier service is
1: Done in space.
2: relatively slow
3: At approximately even or higher risk of loss than player contracts
4:Expensive and finally
5: requires higher than jump clone standings

it seems like this would be a reasonable way to add more lift capability for things like raw veld.

This idea was thrown around on fanfest along the line of "Will basically move like on autopilot, will be T1 haulers (multiple if needed) and cost quiet a lot" so if it happens, I wont use them very much :D

What's wrong with getting players to do it for you? It's not like pushx is expensive.

Didn't they pretty much announce this at Fanfest? Not during downtime though, we'll get the chance to shoot them down Smile

If NPC haulers provide a hilariously slow service with a 40% chance of your contract just expiring I'm all in.

... then I'm all for it anyway.

I am pretty sure they announced this at fanfest for the most part, but not during downtime, and the NPC couriers can be engaged by other players.

Want it moved quick but at higher risk give it to NPCs to move
Want it moved, and actually arrive, Contract to PCs to move.

And the best part....

NPCs aren't capsuleers, so don't get "protected" by CONCORD.

The idea is stupid and brilliant at the same time.
All the sad escapists who refuse to accept reality will use NPCs ...
... and never see their crap arrive. ^_^

This is bad.

Would remove a whole profession, shrink the economy and genuine ISK-making activity. Instead, join the in-game channel "Haulers Channel" which is frequented by over 250-450 Freelancers and clients at any one time. Smile

All bases are covered for the clients - almost no collateral too large, or reward too little, as well as ample work and opportunities for Freelancers and professionals alike:

  • Tech 1 haulers
  • Tech 2 Deep Space Transports
  • Tech 2 Blockade Runners
  • Shuttles, frigates, fast align ships
  • Freighters
  • Jump Freighters

  • All of the above are used in Hisec, and all of the above are used in Lowsec. Yes, I have had solo freighters jump into LS for me for 250 mil rewards.

Such player-driven economy and the unending LIFE it generates makes me cry with joy, often at night, when a sudden realisation hits yet again and I am reminded of the stellar beauty of Eve.

It is better to work and expand on the current very efficient Courier Contract system, and introduce various player-set conditions, such as 4, 6, 8-hour time delivery bonuses. Smile

I understand the frustration one might feel when a shipment needs to be delivered within the next 1-4 hours, and you're ready to pay hefty premium, but there is almost no guarantee it won't be there in 23 hours instead, as that is the minimum expiration duration currently. Smile

CCP pls ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ gib improve Courier Contracts

Why do you think a whole profession should dissapear and economy shrinks?
