I have been studying the market during my free time, on those long travels through space where you really don't have anything to do.

By what I can tell, mining is dead, especially in Amarrian Space. The fields are looted, and the one's that aren't are patrolled by pirates and Seekers. More and more pilots are turning to combat, and looted wrecks can't support the massive market we have in the Cluster.

And let's admit it, SKINs disrupted the market. Hundreds of people are throwing themselves at Drifters, causing there to be less and less resources and ships available.

Furthermore is the hiking amount of Capital ships present, and the destruction of said ships.

And please, before Diana Kim or someone else decides to turn this into a ethical discussion, don't, just don't.

Wouldn't the destruction of these ships increase your revenue? supply and demand and all that? I would think a trader would love idiots like myself losing ships left and right...

I was referring more to the fact that ships are being destroyed much more often then in the past within "Empire Space", and the inability to support this construction. It is not very noticeable now, but I fear it may be soon.

If mining becomes less common, resources become more costly, and by extension, so does just about everything else.

I forsee unpleasantness in the future. Mainly for those without economic (fore)knowledge.

Pilot Arcashiri, in your short time amongst us you have proven yourself to be incredibly alarmist. Perhaps your study of the market should broaden to include the term "inflation".

Mining has never been as profitable as it is right now. Please refrain from further market anlysis, pilot Arkashiri.

If the prices are up due to scarcity, then mineral prices will climb and make mining more profitable. Then more people will mine, and the prices will come back down. The market will correct itself.

So, you know. Maybe wait for your Trade skillbook to finish before you start panicking.

With all these ships being destroyed they are going to have to get the resources to make more somewhere, right? It's the natural ebb and flow of the market.

As Ms. Dellacorte stated, as more ships get destroyed and the demand for replacements remains, the prices of minerals will rise, making mining profitable for those who choose to pursue such a venture (mild pun unintended). The influx of minerals from the increased mining activity will in turn cap those prices. Calm yourself, pilot. This is how the market works.

"The Market" is much, much more than minerals and ores, my friend. Savvy traders and explorers know that all too well. I reiterate the need to refrain from any alarmist concerns.

For those that keep their resources liquid, any temporary fluctuations can be weathered. Cash is still king.

To the main point: a colleague of mine recently moved to Solitude to continue her mining and industrial career. She is doing quite well in that isolated region. I would doubt the conclusions drawn by naysayers.

All it will really do is ratchet the risk part of the risk/reward equation. Expect to see those who usually fly Battleships in cruiser fleets for awhile. Nothing serious - certainly not in my theater of war.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

Msr. Arcashiri, I take the occasional passing interest in the market.

You may be at peace… all is well.
