They came in cloaked, I saw them appear, I was aligned, hit warp immediately.

Either you weren't aligned or you hit warp after you were tackled, which was it? Theres a five second window after a pilgrim decloaks before it can lock you. If you were aligned you would have warped as soon as you clicked the warp button unless tackled.

I find it interesting that you refer to one ship as male, and the other as female...

Easy to do when you can see the pilot's info. Big smile

For anything destroyer and smaller yes.

To the OP:
An attitude like yours will take you far in this game. Your mistake was not getting safe when someone showed up in local. I would suggest downshipping to a venture ( built in warp stabs ) for low sec mining. They're cheap to replace and a couple mining loads will pay for it. Also consider mining aligned.

I mined in a Procurer in low sec with neutrals in system and only lost 2 ships in the 2 years i did it a lot. In the situation you were in, you would have been okay if you had been aligned. As only stealth bombers don't have the 5 second uncloaking delay before they can lock you, you're pretty safe unless you have to alter directions. That's why using the Higgs anchor rig is so important. It cuts down on the number of turns you have to make. Oh, and make sure you have a Damage Control 2 on. If you land short of a station, you'll want the extra protection if you get attacked at the station (Yes, some crazy person in a Rupture tried to take out my Procurer when I was motoring to the undock once). Also, make sure you have a flight of EC-300s in the drone bay. It's a last resort, but it can work.

I would make one suggestion. Try not to mine in a belt within d-scan range of a gate. If roaming gangs can't see you in a belt, they probably won't try to hit every belt looking for a mining barge. But if they see you, they might just go ahead and wander over looking for a cheap kill.

And for those who think I'm crazy for mining with neutrals in local? Yes I am. But mining in high sec is so boring. Acting like the Road Runner leaving Wile E Coyote in the dust is so much more fun.

Force Recons are D-scan immune
You see them on local, on probe scan and suddenly on grid with you.

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

uh, incorrect. Force recons have covert cloaks and there is a slight delay between when they decloak and lock. Combat recons are the ones that are d-scan immune.

I think, and I know most of you will find it humorous, but the biggest lesson learned here is aligned. I said it, many of you clarified it, I was not moving. It's a simple thing, but one that got over looked in both instruction and practice.

I've been in groups, where a member aligns us all to the next jump. My ship turns, it slowly speeds up, we all jump. I've been in space with others who have said, "align to x". Not once do I recall, and I'll put the blame on me if it was, but not once do I recall anyone telling me that your ship must remain in motion. I have been, and until this post (thank you to all who have politely fixed this) under the impression that simply pointing to the destination was a benefit, as if the act of "turning" the ship was the part I was trying to avoid.

Again, foolish? Perhaps. Hard lesson, to a degree. But I am thankful regardless.
