Ship skins and WHY I THINK...

they're pretty neat.

Really now, we've been asking for cosmetics for our ships for a long time now, and CCP has worked towards making it a reasonable feature. And finally, they've implemented a way for us to get our neat looking ships and still keep the server load lower.

While very few of the skins released are any that I actually like, and I don't quite like that Caldari got a little shafted on the variety front, I do very much appreciate the work CCP's artists and programers have put into it and when the ones I do like get released, I'll definitely pick them up.

About the 30 day time limit, I'm all for it. It's kindof a pain if you activate it and don't get an opportunity to use the ship, and I kinda liked having unique ships that are now just run-of-the-mill ones, but I definitely understand why they decided to do it this way, considering market saturation and the fact that these things drop all the time if you go to look for them. As a matter of fact, I'd argue that if you use and lose a lot of a certain type of ships, like Cormorants, then you come out with a better deal as you can just apply the skin to all the ships you have of the same kind instead of worrying about the availability and market stock of the Guristas Cormorants.

Ultimately, I just want to thank the devs and artists at CCP for their work :)

For what it's worth, I agree with you (which doesn't mean much at all, since I'm just some random anyway).

I agree :) The new SKINS system is great, i've already bought the permanent Quafe Tristan and Police Comet skins from the market, about 200mil for the 2, so that's amazing value for 2 permanent variations of 2 of my favourite ships without having to buy seperate, far more expensive hulls and be more of a target as a result.

The bad side is that the problems with corp titles being removed, ship flight and module activation delay aswell as the new map being less useful than the old one are clouding the SKINS system with failure, this feels like a rushed release.

CCP should do less updates per year if this is the quality they will come out with imo.

I'm missing the reason why you think. *points at title* ^_^
It was the reason why I clicked in the first place!

I was hoping for a fascinating and verbose explanation ...
... about the connection between ship skins and your cognitive abilities.

Damn you clickbaiters !!! *shakes fist at OP*

Actually, their quality of releases has been getting better and better as of late. Time will tell, but I think this is just a little stumble and I'm sure it'll get fixed within the next week or two.

When it comes to the map, it is a beta. And they didn't remove the old map, you can still access it just fine from the E menu at the top right. Just drag it back over to the left bar it was on before it got removed for whatever reason (probably a bug).

XD

Well if you want to get technical, the extended variety of choices could hypothetically stimulate the cognitive and imaginative areas of the brain and could potentially produce a markedly more profound and enhanced problem solving ability not present in a non-SKIN-incentivized control group. The interduction of the SKIN system might be the beginning stages of a program by CCP to covertly raise the group IQ of it's concurrent userbase via subtle stimulation of the problem-solving state of mind of an average player with the injection of non-obvious target preference (i.e. the SKINed ships vs non-SKINed ships) and thereby produce a higher state of situational awareness and priority thinking, during fast-paced, split-second-decision environment that is small gang warfare.

Or that could be complete bullshit, I don't know *shrug*

Woah!

Brilliant comeback ! :D
Definitely surprised me! :D

Well, if applied skins could be destroyed ...
... you most likely would be right! :D

It still doesn't tell me why you think, though ! (HA! XD)

Apologies for the digression, but I feel as an industry we let developers get away with far too much **** when it comes down to betas. The map is not a beta, no matter how much CCP claims it is. It is in the release build, therefore it is released. It was in beta when it was on Sisi, it is now on Tranquility, it is released. Having an "alternate version" does not make something less than released; is the Thorax a beta ship because you can fly a Vexor instead? No. And therefore, it needs to stand up to critisism as a released product. If it's not good for that, it should still be on Sisi. Likewise, screw Star Citizen and their pre-alpha crap. There is no such thing as a pre-alpha, stop letting them get away with a sub-standard product just because they plastered a made-up name on to it in an attempt to justify its sub-standardness.

Sorry, personal gripe. I am truly an angry little man.

Needs more customisation.

Colour sliders on paint jobs so we can have pink and purple ones.
Ribbons and furry dice.
Lipstick painted on mouths or kisses.
Rainbow exhausts.

Not enough accessories for our ship dolls.

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

that was no bug, that was deliberate to get you to use it. lol

Not a fan of the new map. Crashes my game for 2 minutes each time I opeened it. given up now. Bit useless when needing to use the map ...

whole heartedly agree. Tranq is not for beta 'anything'. Get rid of it back to Sisi until it's finished. Or, just replace the old one with this new one and brave up to the critique (and no doubt tirade of justified abuse for a suibstandard product).

That's some pretty convoluted reasoning ... but, I guess when you're justifying eye candy by trying to make it look pragmatic in some way (rather than a vanity item) your logic has to go into the convoluted end of the spectrum. Blink

There just isn't anything that can be said!
