I would like to use both my monitors while playing EVE. I'm using a Mac Book Pro and a large Mac monitor. All constructive recommendations appreciated!

It should be an option inside of your system settings. Just set up dual monitor and run the eve client in windowed mode and shove it to the other monitor. I have no experience beyond that, I am a plebeian with a 2560x1440 monitor and don't dual screen. However it is relatively simple to look up on the apple forums, as it requires just a simple change in your system prefs. which is located on your dash. Then again I am assuming you have all the correct cables. Be warned though, I don't know how well a laptop will be able to handle a second monitor.

set the game to window mode, grab one side of the window click and drag it towards the second monitor. just like if you were enlargeing it. then you need to adjust your camera offset and hud positions. done

google is your friend https://youtu.be/pM1pLC2_WPk edit: erm missed the mac part but that should still help i think

Sorry but I don't know much about the mac client.

For the Windows client, there are several options:

1. As posted above, set up your dual monitors so your operating system shows them properly, then run the game in windowed mode, and drag each window to the monitor that you want.

2. Inside EVE, if you hit ESC to go to the EVE Settings panel, Graphics tab has options for "windowed full screen mode" and you can manually specify the resolution. This plays the game in a box with no borders, and with the manually-configured resolution you can extend the game across two screens (just make a fake resolution that matches the dimensions of both your screens added together side by side). You can also use the Camera Offset settings in the Graphics tab to show the ship in space on the left screen, for example, and the overview, local window, map, fleet, etc. on the right screen.

3. If you have 2 video cards, with each screen connected to its own video card, EVE lets you specify which video card to use to render the game. So you can put one game on the left screen, and another game on the right screen, by selecting the video cards from the Graphics options.

Hu?
One can't enter a fake resolution.
It's a dropdown menu.

doesnt work too great different sized monitors, i couldnt get it to work properly was just irritating

(17" laptop with 24" external monitor) 1920x1080 + 1920x1200

Edit: you can enter the resolution width in the dropdown something like 3600x1200 for example as eve notices you have 2 screens

What purpose does having a display stretched across two monitors serve?

Doesnt the split get in the way in the middle?

It does, but you also have options to "offset" the space scene by moving it to the left, for example, so it's centered in one monitor, and you can move all your windows including Overview, Local, Map, Fleet, D-scan, probing, to the "free" space on the right monitor, without obstructing the view of your ship.

only issue i had with offsetting was spinning your camera, the offset creates an offset spin where on a single monitor the spin was centred

Frankly, rather than just stretching the eve window (full screen or otherwise) across multiple monitors, I'd rather have one screen for the hud and "view from the cockpit" and another for internal eve windows - chat, fleet, inventory, market, whatever. I could live with keeping the overview and "selected item" on the main screen, I suppose. Although imo "selected item" ought to be a popup - and it ought to pop up when something changes about the item, whether it's selected or not (for example, when it locks you up, or when it is designated primary).

Note that if you could do what I want, you wouldn't need the IGB any more, you could use your Safari or whatever, assuming your second monitor was big enough or you're willing to stack windows on it.
