Looking for the ability to patch the client and launcher offline

I haven't had Internet at home for about a month and a half now, and only use my phone for Internet now, which has very limited data. I figured that if I could get an up-to-date client on my computer, I could play tethered to my phone as actual gameplay doesn't consume much data. I tried downloading the offline installer at a friends place a few weeks ago, thinking that if I reinstalled my client I could play for at least a day, but as soon as it launched it started downloading a patch which I didn't want to do over my phone internet, so I pulled the plug and uninstalled Eve from my computer.

Since the offline installer is doesn't appear to be kept fully up to date (it may be only updated once a week maybe, who knows, maybe CCP can shed some light on this) and it doesn't seem feasible to download the entire +4 GB offline installer every single day and reinstall the client just to keep it up to date, I suggest that CCP should keep a rolling week or two (or however long the offline installer goes between updates + a few days) of daily patches that can be downloaded via web browser and applied to the client/launcher via regular Windows/Mac installer. I think it would really help those of us who can download small bits at work or a coffee shop or whatever and then update and play on a client at home using a limited Internet connection.

Thanks, and hopefully I can get back to playing Eve Online soon.

Hey,

i think your only way could be to install the game over your friends internet, set the launcher to download all and thereby disabling download on demand. once that is done, set it back to download on demand and as long as you don´t encounter something that has been patched in between your big download date and the day you´re playing you won´t have to download anything more at all.

You might want to have a look at that to find some offline installer stuff. Obviously, you still need to DL it somewhere but you get the full package.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

actually I'd like a list of all patches somewhere accessible, listed by date deployed, so you can see which patches you're behind by

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

the littlest ones don't always have associated patch notes or do they?
