*SOLVED - SOLUTION INSIDE* Updating EVE ("Incompatible Version")

I open EVE through a command prompt as the launcher itself doesn't work on my system, but I can't now login because it says incompatible version and a new update is available. How do I update? The command I use to launch (if its important/relevant to this) is:

wine "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe"

I tried using the repair tool and it said it would install a new update but it had an error message and I still couldn't log in when I launched the game again.

*HOW I FIXED IT* - I went into terminal and put the command

wine "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\repair.exe"

Somehow running repair.exe from terminal worked whereas selecting repair from the menu shortcut didn't. repair.exe will usually be in the same location mine was but if it isn't, go into wine and chose the "browse your C drive" or similar option. Find where repair.exe is in the CCP folder, and then run that from the terminal window.

Same issue, for me the exec stopped working yesterday but I could click the start eve button, and then log in, but now I get the same error, Incompatible (Version).

"Mines broken on Windows 7" did not notice that this was a linux thread.

Do I download eve again?

For me, re downloading the client fixed my issues, but that is not ideal.

Make the launcher work. That's the only sound advice. Apparently repair is barely functional since we started using DoD.

The launcher will not work no matter what. Fresh install it is I guess :(

I managed to fix it. If anyone else is having the same issue please see my original post where I've updated it to include how I got it working again.
