What really baffles me, is if the atheists really just don't believe in a God, and that's it, why don't they ever feel the need to mention it unless the subject is brought up by Christians? If someone gets on here and says Happy Ramadan, or Happy Chanukah, these idiots never seem to come out of the woodwork to tell the guy how fake his God and religion are.

So to all you Christians out there, just remember what Jesus said; "Haters gonna hate". Ignore them and have a merry Christmas.

Because most western athesits are not atheists. They have no logic or reason behind their view, although they pretend that they do, but few understand their own arguments. They are instead driven by their passions. They also tend to be government worshiping statists and are more authoritarian than the religion they whine about.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  - William Pitt

Atheists are just more wackos pretending they know what they cannot know.

I consider myself 'not religious' and I end up having very annoying conversations when people try and pin me down to saying I'm an Atheist or some other label. I'm not arrogant enough to pick an answer at random and live my life by it.

I know how you feel.

I don't pretend for a moment that I could comprehend the secrets of life, death and the universe.

Everything we believe is just guess work.

Well for me its gone for another year.

I hadnt intended this to have a debate on religion but it made an interesting read.

Personally i dont believe in God/s etc i have my own "beliefs" so christmas is pointless to me. However i accept the fact i cant avoid it, so i do my best to be civil about it in the places i frequent. That included here Roll

Anyway if you are in the gmt - 3 and beyond have a good day/night.

Now being Scottish new year is a different storey Big smile

You can say this pretty generally about everyone on the face of the planet, few people actually go through the effort of figuring out supporting arguments as to why they believe the things they do, this even comes down to simple things like "why do you believe murder is bad" and other such things.

I call myself an atheist, and thus don't believe in a god, but I couldn't care less about what other people believe and my reasons for not believing in one are based behind the "if it's not provable, then I don't believe it matters." I recognize that isn't a fact, but merely a belief, but hey, any statement about fundamentally unprovable things is a belief.

Also, why do we hear such little talk of solipsists (who take it to the extreme, naturally)? What about their rights and opinions!

(Futhermore, @Vkhaun Vex, I'm glad you were able to enjoy Christmas and do something nice for your mother, but Christmas is about profit, which I ensure you that the companies that manufactured said TV made. Goodwill towards men died a long time ago. Doesn't mean you can't have it while also being a consumerist, just that the focus during Christmas is on buying things to give them to people.)
Also, since Christmas is over (I hope everyone who celebrates it enjoyed theirs) I now declare this thread to be about onions.

Onions are delicious. Especially fried. Also, I got a deep frier in like November. This is a bad thing when you are trying to eat healthier.

Well said,

I admit, it is amusing to see people suffer over themselves. While I agree that religion is poison (stole that line), I certainly do believe there is something out there that is responsible for the potentials of creation. Some miserable tale about some homer stapled on a cross does nothing for me though. Our small human understanding is just a method people use to feel better about their small lot in life. A nice comfortable hand-rail as they negotiate a precarious set of stairs.

If that is what it takes to make people live by a higher moral standard (some form of conventional religion), then I can agree with it, until that little religious judgement thingy comes along.Lol

I liked the guys video, but it seems too much like his hobby...kind of sad for him. Its the sad face types who like to compare the "west"(U.S.) with their europe. Don't become enslaved to that kind of blinkered thinking.Blink
