So this has to be Eve related or just something amazing looking by itself?
We wanted to ask the community to submit some truly great works of art based on the EVE universe. So EVE related please.
The Contest policy is (c)2007... it is still to follow with all the details, address, phone etc?

If you win you'd probably want to receive the goodies so submitting personal information would be the way to go, however if people choose to submit entries without the necessary information with the intent to follow-up after the fact then they do so at their own risk should we be unable to finalise this information when it comes to naming the winning pieces and delivering swag.

So basically you are encouraging a Capsuleer to leave their artwork in an unsecured Jet Can hoping that no one would take it. Now we know who gave birth to can flipping.

Has CCP ever given thought to creating a "Living Art Portraits"? Basically how LAP's would function is a game engine like Unity would be used to design the framework and imagery where the Living Portrait would then hung on the bulkhead as art in motion.

I would also think that something new could developed which would be another first. The first would be to take a live camera image of an area of town any town across the planet where daily life is taking place. The computer would then assign a background, structure and object image based on New Eden settings.

For example a camera shot takes a down town live image of a busy New York street. The buildings are transformed into space and the station itself while the vehicles would be transformed into numerous types of space craft within the environment of New Eden coming and going from the station.

Or a live image is taken of people in a busy market place where the environment is transformed from an Old Earth environment into a market place on planet within the New Eden environment.

What ever your artwork is it will need to convey a sense of an ever evolving or flowing space environment that will promote imagination for years to come.

Just poking in to wave and say 'sup'

I wanted to use this as an occasion to explore large format printing, but I can do that on my own with something else later. I'm familiar with the look of EVE banners at gatherings ( one or two may or may not preside over the San Diego meetup), and I'm curious how my submission would look on vinyl under natural light.

I was going to test print things on 12" sections of vinyl, which is cheap enough. Anyway yeah, another project.

Please disregard my comments about the print specifics, I will use a simpler Photoshop -> Illustrator workflow for this. (Illustrator has a vector brush, yay).

I know you said no fan art. I'm only putting masks on official images.

Well I can't tell if my email went through so here's the final. (Please let me know if the full download link is working or not, it seemed like a really big file and might have to be xsfered via drop box, cuz it wasn't working on my other laptop when I went to try and download it.)

The Jubilee Afterparty by Izi Ningishzidda

The Empress's 25th Silver Jubilee is marked with contests, parties, more parties and performances around the world of Amarr. Clone technology has become more accepted by Amarr and is seen as the way forward for humanity but especially as a weapon of the faithful. More clones means more power for any of the great civilizations, and the Empress has publically proclaimed the importance of recruiting as young as possible. The the parents of the children of New Eden, with a 1% chance in their DNA of being viable for deep space travel as an immortal capsuleer, are courted early on for their potential use as loyalists to the empire.

The talent contest to determine which youngsters would have the honor of performing at the jubilee celebrations held near Sarum Prime (Sponsored by Lady Catiz Tash-Murkon) awarded to its winners an all expenses paid trip to Sarum Prime during Jubilee week, not only to perform at the Royal Court, but to tour the great monuments and museums and have the honor of meeting real live Capsuleers and Classiari at various storytelling and feast events. Over one hundred schools won trips, even though perhaps half a dozen actually had a chance to perform their acts in the main celebration itself. The whole contest is a thinly veiled marketing event aimed at impressing young, smart and educated minds with the might and glory of the Empire in hopes that they will gear their talents towards its protection, glory and traditions.

Shown here are the girls from the Desert Flower Dance Atelier of Mishi IV lead by the famous wind dancer Ibnalia Sahlangia just finishing their tour of the Jamyl Sarum Museum of Capsuleer History. The teachers are attempting to wrap up the meet and greet with the hour's two current hosts, Divine Commodore Ayasashi Akaya, and Templar General Thal Vadam. Loyalist Capsuleers and Classiiarii will change shifts during the day to provide attention and answer questions to the thousands of children that will pass through the museum on the third day of the festivities. The boys from Saheri IV's Ninazu Military Academy are beginning to file in from the rest of the museum.

Apologies for the lack of auto-reply on the submission inbox. However we are receiving art and do manually check junk filters etc just in case, the only way we won't have received your work is if you received an auto response from our mailbox saying the file size was too large.

That said it's been great to see the entries so far. We hope to announce the pieces we plan to display by the end of May along with some of the best of the rest in a future blog.

One thing we've realised so far is that there are some beautiful pieces that don't quite meet the printing standards we had in mind for giant canvas's. While we expect to fill one of our walls with giant pieces as planned, we hope to have the opportunity at a later date to offer some extra wall space to artists submitting great works on a smaller scale. No promises of course, but after seeing the quality of submissions so far we're very interested in in displaying further works from our immensely talented players in future.

Well, I have a bit of a failure to admit.

Print happens to be the next big undertaking in my art education, and I held myself to some strict standards over this. It seems that is going to cause me to break the submission deadline.

I'm experimenting with the tools and materials of print, and I haven't found a good system to produce a solid end result. Basically, I'm in the middle of wrestling with both the tools (Illustrator) and the materials involved here.

I could have done it in Raster with Photoshop, then live traced the whole thing in Illustrator, but I wouldn't be learning anything new that way.

It's good to hear you'll be open to later submissions. I'll have to take you up on that.

The final product I want to deliver to you is simple: a pdf of vectorized art that will present well on vinyl, under natural light. Getting there is a bit more complicated, it seems.

Because I love you and it's time to swallow my pride after making such a fuss in this thread, I'm going to share the progress I've made so far.

The original core concept

The colors refined with Rán and Commissar Kate, who is the face of EVE to me.

Making it happen in Illustrator.

None of us are going anywhere anytime soon, so I will get back to you with this. Good luck to the entries and congratulations all around.

So lacking an auto-reply; does that still mean you guys will confirm pieces send in?

Because i didnt get any response yet.

And yes, the printing standards are always annoying and wished i had more info on the printing standards when we started.

But I hope the pieces arrived, and like to have this confirmed.

Since the vinyl banner thing is closed, maybe something that would make a nice desktop background is better.

I'm picking up my test vinyl banner this afternoon, it is this in 60" x 12" http://imgur.com/TaFuy90

I'm going to figure out a method for vinyl banners to offer it as part of commission work. I like to work in 300 dpi, I just need to get the hang of colors that look good in the format.

I like the looks of it, but when you are gonna do commissions, do check the copyrights or trademarks or others' works.

Just now found this thread. Some really nice submissions, especially the one with the pod being marooned. Interesting concept.

Here's my submission. I'm worried that it's mine that possibly doesn't look good blown up. It was done with Micron pen on 14x28" watercolor paper, and my wife took a picture of it to get it at 240 dpi, then I worked with that RAW file in Photoshop. I did my best to get the resolution as good as I could, even submitted the PSD along wtih my submission in case they wanted to tool with it.

Ah ok so that is your work? I've seen the uncolored version, and it's nice to connect the art to a main.
