I am enjoying probing out into space for its space goodies, but I NEVER come across Radar or Ladar sites. I get everything else but those two.. is there only a particular security space that I can find these sites?

Thanks in advance

move out to lesser travelled systems -- they're probably just being found before you get around to scanning the system(s) you're checking out.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I rarely find mag or grav sites and find plenty of WHs, Battle Sites, and Radar. I think it's just luck of the draw, although I think Ladar sites are more common in certain parts of Empire space.

you must have been simply unlucky with the radar sites; for ladar sites, look in the COSMOS constellations ( http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/COSMOS_constellation )

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

Its just luck as to what you find.

Depends on what space youre in though. Caldari space is more heavily explored because Gurista drops are used/worth more than others.
If youre just starting out exploring and doing so in Caldari space, 9/10 youl be beaten to any decent sites by guys in Tengus.

Either move to another empire's space, use the EVE Dotlan maps (google) to find less traveled to systems, or just practice scanning until youre very quick at it (plus skill up "astrometric x" skills)

Keep training up skills, get Sisters launchers and probes and a good probing ship. It will take less than a minute to scan a site and you can get to a lot more raising the chance of booty.

Tengus is the most hated ship for explorers starting out.

I have lost count of how many times some carebear in a fully fitted Tengu jumps into DED sites designed for new players

Maybe something should be done about the gate restrictions for DED 3's and 4's to prevent T3 cruisers from activating them

Patience is the key.

I've gone out and scanned multiple systems for 2-3 hours and found nothing but unstable wormholes and crappy salvage sites with nothing but frigate wrecks and empty cans.

Likewise, I've found a 4/10 plex in hisec before that was laughably easy to finish and dropped faction loot worth 350m+ ISK.

I've also had the aggravation of being in the middle of a plex only to have someone in a smaller, crappier ship warp in and take everything of value while rats plinked away at my tank.

Gotta get used to inconsistency. The effort that you put into scanning does not necessarily correlate to the reward you'll receive from doing it.

If you fly pretty cheap give low sec a try. Most of it is near empty, and the sites are better. Pack a T1 cloak on a Vexor or Arbitrator and get used to D scanning a lot. It's good practice for wormholes. Also it'll get you exposed to getting ganked occasionally, which is no big deal if you fly cheap. I find the lack of crowds worth the trade off.

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.

Keep one simple idea handy and it'll answer most of all your exploration questions... It's random. Little is actually proven about site distribution/area/spawning and many prefer it this way, it makes you actually explore Big smile.

Just remember when finding a post, or even a guide with information, that unless a developer is actually quoted on a specific mechanic regarding exploration, we're basically guessing, no matter how much research or data we compile.

I agree. T3 Cruisers shouldnt be allowed to enter DED 3 sites in hi-sec (which are pretty much meant for those starting out exploration) Makes it very difficult for noobs to compete. If you've got the money and skills for a Tengu why compete with some week old character in a Heron

oh yes, definitely check out a corner low-sec if you haven't yet, it didn't even cross my mind that you are maybe doing it only in hisec at the time of my first reply o\

if you're completely new to lowsec and afraid of it, ask a friend to roll with you for the first couple of jumps or something. hell you can even ask me
