Inconsistencies in EVE

Please dedicate this thread to things you find inconsistent about the world of EVE. Not the game mechanics but the lore more or less.

I for one find it curious that in a society that has mastered cloning we have so many blind and scarred capsuleers around.

Surely, eyeballs can be cloned and if you are ever podded, your clone is a brand spanking tattoo free new version of you with no defects.....right? In fact, you can probably get a younger or older version of you if you want.

Just sayin What?

Why is Explosive a Damage Type?

Isn't Explosive dealt with by both Kin and Therm?

How can there be explosive weapons that do not deal Kinetic?

Those things are alterations made to the clones specifically by the request of the capsuleers themselves and are perfectly consistent with the lore. If anything the real inconsistency is the lack of customization options we have available. Gender changes, artificial body parts and age changes are just a few that should be available according to the lore.

Just the very FACT that Asteroid Belts reappear with a Fantasy mechanic called Magick....overnight.......IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT.

Seriously, one should 'discover' controlled and randomized spawns in different places through Exploration. Even Ice.

While I dont doubt what you are saying, it does sound a bit like a cop-out when a writer has painted himself into a corner. Positive alterations I can see, but why would anyone want to be blind , scared or limited physically in any way.

Then again, we are talking about a very alien sociiety desended from what we deem as "normal" on earth.

So I pose the queston, if you had the ability to grow a new body would you place physical limitations on it and why?

Explosive damage type....

Thermal damage type....

Its not the kinetic damage that deals the killing blow.

The fact that you only have engines on one side of your ship. To turn around, slow down and be as agile as the ones we have now, you'd need them on every face.

Howcome we can warp through planets?

Why is a fighter drone 23m long yet 5,000m3 in mass?

How did I get here?

Also, surely explosions work through the combustion and expansion of air; therefore, how can we make non-nuclear explosions happen in space?

I thought this was chalked up to the Warp Drives present in each ship that somehow creating a sort of... drag.

Tradition defines and shapes a person, but should be evaluated frequently; far too often does Tradition no longer help, but hobble a person and stunt their growth. Especially a Capsuleer.

You tried to pull apart the game mechanics and then made the mistake of referring to a volumetric measurement (m3 - meters cubed) as a mass. Also, if EVE tried to address relative motion, it would be not be playable or certainly not fun.

I didn't know that. That satisfies me. Lol, thx.

What an interesting video of a tank being sheered apart by the KINETIC FORCE of an explosion. Then left burning.

Does not explain why it is a Dmg type when both Kin and Therm exist and there is nothing else to an explosion.

It is ether the Kinetic force of the Missile / Shrapnel / Shockwave or it is the Heat / Fire.

Explosions are in essence Kinetic Force sometimes Superheated.

you're in a pod full of goo 99.9% of the time, with all "external" stimuli being jacked directly into you via the implants in your spine, so you don't really need working eyes, or legs, or arms.

Some of the capsuleers may choose to keep the limitations that they had before becoming demigods.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

For damage types think about tanks ammos in real life for exemple, there is pure explosive heads (HEAT missiles), pure kinetic projectiles (APDS), a high velocity bullet with explosive head would be kin / explo, etc... The thermic damage in Eve is all about temperature, think of lasers and plasma. Damage types in Eve sound OK to me.

 Davai!
