Mac crashing

So here's my Mac horror story.

I've always been able to get the Mac client working after a while.

After playing on a mac for years you get used to the, "Do this, this, sacrifice a goat, then this, and your client will work!" run around...

Now this is totally different. First the clone client stopped working, then the launcher stopped working. Doesn't even open. No big deal I'll just launch eve the long way though the finder. Now, nothing. At all.

I've even done a fresh reinstall, yet nothing works. The closer we get to the Tuesday launch the shittier the mac client gets.

Oh did I forget to mention you disco from the server about ever 5 minutes on every client? Super great feature.

OS: Windows 10 Home

Motherboard: MSI Z97A Gaming 7(MS-7916)

CPU:  Intel Core i7-4790K @4.00 GHz

GPU:  GeForce GTX 970

Memory:  16GB

Do you have Gatekeeper enabled, and did you upgrade to 10.10? If so, that's probably your issue. Disable Gatekeeper (System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Allow apps downloaded from anywhere). Then launch EVE. Then go back to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy and Allow apps downloaded from the App Store and other identified developers. If I'm right, that should fix your issue.

I could be wrong, because you didn't post your OS version or any detail about how it's failing. (Hint, hint.)

There's been a more or less continuous DDoS attack on the servers. I haven't heard any updates on it in a while, but the last couple of ban waves and policy changes seem to have made at least one person very, very mad. Not much to be done about it, sadly.

However: are you doing any kind of intensive network activity in the background while running EVE? Downloading patches, torrents, big web pages, music streaming? Because EVE has never played well with others as far as sharing network bandwidth goes.

No need to disable Gatekeeper. Just right-click on Eve client and select Open from menu.

You only have to do this once per install of the eve client.

If you read this tech note:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491

This is described in the section labeled "How to open an app from a unidentified developer and exempt it from Gatekeeper", you can just launch the Eve client.

It would be nice if CCP signed their app so that Mac customers don't have to go through this.

That didn't always work in the beta for 10.10.3, so I got in the habit of a full disable/reënable. If that's no longer necessary, awesome.

Thought you folks might have fixed it with this patch today. No dice. Still crashes in station and in system. I can't risk flying anything but a rookieship.

Hi Ralend,

That patch was just a launcher SSL Certificate update. Our Mosaic deployment is occurring as I am typing this, which includes the latest version of Cider.

Best,

Sledge.
