I am a recently returned player. I stopped in 2007, but joined again with some friends. We all made squeaky new gallente pilots. I wanted to know, would I be able to bring my old Caldari pilot over into Gallente space, and what if anything do i need to do to avoid being attacked by the Gallente NPCs/Players.

Thanks for your time

as long as your standings to caldari state is above -5 and you're not in minmatar or gallente militia they won't attack you.

just as a general comment to sum stuff up. There is nothing inherent within the game that locks any character into anything based on his / her race. You are born with skills that could be trained in one day. The only thing that causes a player to be shoot on site in another racial empire space is that players actions or choices and that could be the same regardless of what race you were born. Further you can cross train anything.

Some examples are you could be born Minmatar and train all the skills that you would have had if you were born Amarr in a few hours. Then you could run off into caldari space and and run missions for Caldari thereby damaging you Gallente and Minmatar faction stands then you could join Amarr militia and instantly be at war with your own race's faction.

TL;dr
Any character can potentially do anything in any space in game. The only thing that would prevent a character from doing anything is consequences of decisions made by the player.

The Diplomacy skill can probably get your Gallente faction over the -5 mark if it isn't already.

If for some reason even that won't cut it in a reasonable amount of time, you could rush through the SOE epic arc and give Dagan to the Gallente guy when the choice comes up for a quick large boost.

And, of course, the things chasing you will be fed navy, not CONCORD, so you can also just deal with it while you mission: if you don't dawdle in space you're unlikely to get the police dropping on you much. Just kill your mission stuff fast and warp directly back to dock.
