My initial opinion on level 5's.

I am currently out in Aulbres trying my hand at my first level 5's in a passive tengu. (no.... you will not find me...)

First thing is my god this is boring. Energy Neuts and WEB turrets galore.

Can't fly active w/dps cause of the Energy Neuts.
Flying passive w/low dps is stupidly slow.

I never really read up on lvl 5's before starting. However, I was just hoping for rooms full of BS's. Instead its a bunch of annoying **** spread out over 150km or so.

Now, I fully understand the concept here or at least I think I do.

1. the need for an extra ship or two.
2. the need to change up your strategy for dealing with the variable npc types.

However for a guy who just wants to go out and make a ton of isk and not be BORED TO DEATH.... I ain't havin' it.

I'm gonna finish this mission and move to plan B which I have no idea what that is.

Maybe wormholes or something... meh.

So room 2 seems to be a little better. No web or neuts.... lots of BS's.

quite a few e-war frigates working my little ship over... tank holding...

I'll leave my first post as it is, however I will note that I did not intend it to sound as winey as it came off Cool

Maybe a cruiser isnt the right ship to do level 5 missions in.

If you do want to do missions for ISK just do lvl4 ones.
You have to think about it on a "ammount of time it took to make x" kinda scale.

You will probably make more ISK doing more lvl4 missions than just doing one lvl5 if its taking that long.
Say you make 30m in an hour doing one lvl5, but in that hour you could have done 4 lvl4's making you 10m each, youd be better off doing that. Just beacuse its a higher level doesnt mean youl make more - especially solo at least.

Thing is, people have been doing the same L4s for years, it's getting terribly boring. Incursions are even worse, you do the same thing over and over and over again. It's pure grind. At least they pay more so you don't have to spend as much time on it for your monthly plex, but dear God the tedium.

The game needs new hisec missions badly. Call em L4.5 or whatever. Mini arcs in the vein of L4 arcs but harder. Soloable by a well-fitted faction/t2 BS. They don't have to pay exponentially more than L4s but should be close to incursions in terms of risk vs reward.

Level 5's aren't designed to be run solo. They are for at the very least a 2-man gang (tank & dps) but ideally 4-6. You only have to look at the LP rewards (6 times that of L4's). CCP fixed the final broken aspect of L5's by ensuring none spawn in highsec. L5's now really do require scouts, BS dps and logistics to run efficiently and comparatively safely.

While you can (as you are) trying them out in a T3, you should by now have realized it's just not worth it.

Do something else:)

Yep, sadly that's right....

Why risk a t3 in a lvl 5 when a high sec incursion will pay more with very little risk? Just go solo and join a fleet of other solo guys that all know what they are doing in order to farm all the isk you'll ever need.

Well OP, the only solution I can see to your problem is for CCP to implement a "push button, get isk" feature into Eve. That way you don't have to do **** to get your precious iskies.

Level 5's are just as boring and tedious as lvl4's as you've noticed. They pay better but only if you know how to blitz them. TBH I consider a carrier the only practical ship to run most of them. A few of the gated ones are ok like convoy attack and rogue spy but most are not. I'm also inclined to agree that high sec incursions may actually pay better these days. I do not partake in them however, far too grindy for me even by missioning standards. They would also require me to fix my abysmal sec status and that just isn't gonna happen.Lol

Funny, people play a boring way for their monthly plex to bore them another month doing the same thing?
If it get's boring, go do something else.
Imho a game ends to be a game if you play for being able to play it for free.

I actually enjoy missioning, though I don't try to maximize my isk/hour rate or whatever. I just do it for fun, to fool around with a new ship or try a different loadout. Occasionally I change region to fly a different set of missions when I get bored or do L2s/L3s for another corp to raise standings. What kinda sucks is that unlike other MMOs where you get quest rewards or drops that you can actually use to upgrade your character, in EVE all you get is junk you sell for isk. Dunno. Maybe missions could drop downgraded versions of deadspace loot or so to spice it up a bit?

From this post I can deduce which mission it is. It is by a huge margin the worst lvl 5 IMO.
Learning which ones to run and which ones to pass up are part of the trade secrets of
running lvl 5:s.

That said, other missions will also be greatly helped by the use of a second account for
additional dps.

Simple, level 5 missions are not designed to be done solo, even there are ships (like one you fly) which can do them solo. Exception are non gated missions which can be stormed solo with carrier.

Otherwise, I find level 5 missions no more or less boring/fun then any other level missions. It is same system. Excpetion is neut towers which make you need two ships.

When talking about ISK/hour, you can easily make around 100 M ISK/hour if you choose right missions. I do not know how much you can make in Incursions since I do not do them, but for me it is pretty ok you can buy one month subscription in one afternoon of playing.

Also, missions do drop downgraded versions of ded/faction mods, and they have been for quite some time. They're called meta 2-4s.

Mission running shouldn't get anything shiney. Missions are isk in a barrel, and very little risk if you're not terrible.
