Let me get down to it: I'm working on an Apocalypse World hack set in New Eden. It's pretty straight forward, and lends itself to the system very easily so far, but I would like to incorporate the jargon that players use into the game. Mechanically, there is no difference, but I would like to have an authentic EVE feel, if at all possible. Here they are by category:

There are a few basic stats that every character needs. They are Cool, Hard, Hot, Sharp, Weird, and History. Some background on each:

Cool is how focused someone it under pressure. If he can get the job done no matter what is going on, that dude is cool. If she can resist the temptations of easy pickings, and lie in wait for the big score, that chick is cool. The primary use of this stat is to overcome forces that are resisting your action, or to resist forces that would compel you to do something.

Hard is how strong and tough someone is. If he can stand tall in a fight and give as good as he gets, he's hard. If she can take what she wants by force, she is hard. The primary uses of this are to deal damage to someone else, or to take control of something.

Hot is how sexy someone is. If he makes jaws drop and speakers stutter when he walks in, he is hot. If she can get you to give her everything she wanted and get you to think that you want to, she's hot. The primary use of this is to compel action by someone else through social (or intellectual) manipulation, rather than physical force.

Sharp is how smart someone is. If he knows what you are thinking just before you do, he is sharp. If she knows the best place to look for the keys to the truck you are about to steal, she is sharp. The primary use of this is to gather information about people or places.

Weird is how spooky good someone is. This is the 6th sense ability, and governs the unexplained. If he never seems to get hurt, no matter how many times he takes risks, he's weird. If she gives off this vibe that makes people feel a certain way and they don't know why, she's weird. The primary use of this is get information from unknown or unexplained sources. I called this "Instinct" but I would be open to changing it if something better came up.

History is your background with a person. It's different in that you don't have one history stat, you have one for every other player in the game. If I fought a war against him, and I know his tactics, we've got history. If I fought side by side with her and we know each others next moves, we've got history. The primary use of history is to help or interfere with other person's actions. I called this "Reputation," but I would be open to changing it.

I'm also struggling with some of the actions available. I have the basics (resist, attack, control, compel, gather information on place, gather information on person, 6th sense, help, hinder, buy/sell, take damage, heal damage) but I fee like there are other aspects of EVE that people do that might warrant special treatment. Scanning for anomalies is such an example. It's a big deal in EVE (or I thought it was when I played), so I want to include it for the feel. Are there any others?

Additional background might help. This hack uses New Eden as a model, not EVE. It's not restricted to ships and space. There is room for individual, face to face interaction as well as ship to ship interaction. Not everyone is a capsuleer. The classes that I have so far are Capsuleer, Commander, Explorer, Mechanic, Cult Leader, Maverick, CEO, Operative, and Marine. I'm not committed to any name, so if you can think of one that fits better, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for the help, and fly safe.

There you go. Same standard antagonists, even, basically.

Y'all...please. "Cool" is an expression meaning "doesn't bring the heat around". The "heat" is the po-po. The po-leece.
It doesn't mean "fashionable". It doesn't mean "awesome" It doesn't mean "meets my overblown standard for what I wish I was but could never be." No...not any of these or any of their American suburban whitebread street cred derivatives.

It means "you can be trusted not to by stupidity or intent NARC on anyone." You can butcher the rest of the slang you have a half-assed handle on, but you cannot have "cool". That word was taken by the jazz musicians of the 1930s and passed generation to generation (until it hit the kings of fronting.)

"Cool" means: I'm not going to end up talking to a narc because of you. You're cool.
You're not going to end up talking to a narc because of me. I'm cool.

Thank-you very much. You may now resume pretending you know what you're doing.

There just isn't anything that can be said!
