Press Release 117.04.25
Sortet V - Moon 1 - Federal Navy Assembly Plant

In light of the recently disrupted press conference on the findings of the Dirfter autopsy conducted by Anslo Tetua, Mizhir Starsurge, Kybernetes Moros, Kalo Askold, Repracor Industries is facilitating a virtual Q&A on the report. Questions will be collated by Repracor and forwarded to the researchers. The researchers' responses will recorded and edited into a holo reel to be released to the public.

Questions should be posted to this thread no later than 117.05.03 23:59 EVE Standard Time.

Repracor Industries is dedicated to scientific research and the distribution of knowledge, and we hope this approach will be resistant to further attempts of disruption by Drifter forces.

A-and submitted. Looking forward to this Q&A session. The subject is very interesting.

Edit: Like Ms. Priano, I will add my questions below to avoid clutter. If you want them removed - please inform me.

Quote:

  • An organism needs energy to live. A mechanism needs energy to operate. According to the report, their digestive tract has "low activity and nanite integration". It is obvious that they don't eat in a conventional sence. Could these nanites be "charged" like a battery to give them energy to operate? Or how do they operate - remain "alive" or "online"?

  • Their movement. According to the report, the analysis of Pectoral, Deltoid, Triceps, and Biceps "shows atrophy and necrosis byproducts in less concentrations in these areas". So can they actually walk or move in a conventional sence?

  • Their speech. According to the analysis, their "Vocal Cord is absent". The report doesn't tell - was it surgically removed? Or was it present at all before the body received their augmentations? Is it possible that they are still able to communicate through other means?

  • Controlled by other entity. There is a theory in the report that suggests that the subject's body was controlled remotely. Seeing how the body, or to be exact, the brain of the subject is augmented to a degree when "no normal human being should be able to survive with such an extensive alterations of the brain", has the comparative analysis been performed to compare the implants of the subject to the implant technology of Sansha Nation? If so, are there any similarities?

To avoid unnecessary duplication, Ms. Starfall, would it be possible to have the questions listed here? I understand, of course, that the limited time of the researchers and restricted access to some data may cause many questions to remain unanswered. With that said, I apologize in advance for the density of questions here, which I'll divide by subject. Further, while I like to believe I'm fairly well educated, I remain an amateur and so beg forgiveness for any questions that reflect my lack of medical expertise.

My questions;

1) On the matter of radiation in the blood stream. Dr. Starsurge indicated that there are similarities with other technology we've seen, but didn't clarify: is this most similar to the Antikythera Element, to the Drifter superweapon, or to Caroline's Star? Or are the three all possessed of similar radiation profiles? Additionally, she indicated that the radiation doesn't appear to be decaying, whether due to a simple lack of entropic loss, or unknown generation of power. The former seems almost fanciful, unless we simply haven't been observing the body long enough to witness significant decay, as with certain long-lived isotopes. I'd tend to give more credence to the latter theory, though. Is there any indication of energy transmission of any sort? That's to say, does the body, or did the body receive energy from some outside source, such as might be wirelessly transmitted by a Tyrannos ship? Or is the amount of energy in the blood stream sufficient to maintain the organism for vast amounts of time?

2) On the matter of Drifter and Jove differentiation. Given that the Jove are rumored to reproduce by cloning, and have undergone significant genetic modification, I would suspect the reprouctive atrophy indicates the same of the Tyrannos. I wonder: in what way are you stating that they're differentiated? Do they not have common ancestors? And how does one track biological drift with an organism that has engaged in genetic engineering and cybernetic enhancement? I ask because you indicate that the Drifters and Jove share 'some genetic markers,' which would presumably indicate more genetic markers than the Jove and anyone we'd consider to be 'standard human.' The implication, then, is common ancestry at some stage after the Jove or Tyrannos began engineering themselves, or else convergent engineering if either the Tyrannos or the Jove adopted wholesale the others' engineered traits. Could you clarify what exactly caused you to make such a definitive statement? Could the statement be refined by saying 'modern Jove,' then?

3) On the issue of necrotic byproducts. Given the excess amount of them, is it fair to say that the Tyrannos body was dead for longer than can be accounted for by their retrieval from the battleship? This is to say, can we definitively say that the Drifter was dead before he piloted or was used as a pilot for that ship? I just want to be completely clear on this point.

That's a perfectly reasonable suggestion. I've updated tho original message to reflect that.

There is still time to submit questions. Our goal in doing this Q&A is to allow as broad a cross section as possible of the capsuleer community to have an understanding of the Drifters, since it looks like they will be a factor of life in the Cluster for some time to come.

A query on the bloodstream's radiation; has it been identified as anything other than simply "radiation"? Alpha, Beta, Gamma, or something else entirely?

Also, the report noted minor amounts of necrotic byproducts throughout the corpse, yet very little (if any) detectable necrosis. Is it possible these byproducts come from necrosis previous to the body's reconstruction as a Drifter?
