Dear CCP,

I am writing this petition as an EVE player concerned that perhaps the largest potential marketing opportunity this game will see this decade might be missed here. I implore you not to deprive the rest of planet earth of the glory that is EVE Online. Show the world what the game you've made is and let us, the players, win them over. Put the "This Is Eve" trailer in with the rest of the trailers shown during the opening for Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

I hope that you, and the rest of the EVE community, will agree that this single act could generate gigantic buzz for our beloved game and hope that the will and ability to make such happen is there.

Yep, Lucas Arts is totally gonna do that because it's not like the owners and stakeholdes of that particular IP (lucas arts, bioware and EA) have a competing MMO product or anything...

not a bad idea, but I wonder how expensive it would be, I would guess if they do it they could only do it in a few markets. also not sure how effective it would be.

as for can they do it? no idea how the process for that kinda thing works. They could probably do ad buys before the trailers and stuff, but probably harder to put it with the trailers.

Why wouldn't they? They can show eve space videos next to an ad of storm troopers and light sabers. You can leave your ship in SWTOR. Let the players decide which they prefer.

If it adds 30% more accounts to the playerbase, is the cost really a concern at all? This would put the game front and center in front of millions of eyeballs that don't know it exists or what it is.

You guys are right. Maybe a superbowl ad would work better. A movie trailer is small time.

EVE Online Saw $66M In Revenue Last Year, Mulls IPO

Risk vs Reward. I think they'd make a killing if they did this. It matches the genre that interests that entire audience.

sigh... it cost 4.5m for 30 seconds of superblow ad. This is eve runs 3 min qnd 40 seconds, that come out to around 32m or 1/2 of ccps money for the year.

So no.

How does that make a drop of sense? It's like expecting McDonald's to start putting up Whopper posters in their restaurants.

And a 2016 Super bowl add will cost $4million (real dollars, not isk) for 30 seconds, for not much in return.

Back when LucasFilm/LucasFilm Games/LucasArts was still worthy of the title.

I believe it is the theater that decides what trailers they will play before a movie, so CCP would have to negotiate with each theater company separately. Still may not make economic sense for CCP to do that.

You can be absolutely sure that movie companies
put up restrictions about what may or may not be shown.

It's no biggy to hold a cinema hostage by simply
threatening with loss of future contracts and they can do so at will.

Anyhow, this thread once more proves that deep thinking isn't common nowadays.

In no way or form would any company even indirectly allow
promotion of an, even only tangentially, competing product.

It's nonsense.
