I enjoy trading in Eve, but also have a busy schedule IRL so updating orders all day isnt much of an option for me. So I wanted to ask, would you recommend trying to do as much trading as possible on high frequency items while I am online, or tie up all of my orders on slow moving stock, whilst hoping those orders dont see much competition while I am offline?

Many thanks

Chelsea.

A mix of both, and just update all orders when you log on. This is how I've had to play the last 6 months or so, and I'm doing ok.

Go for products that have a small spread in hubs, but a bigger spread if you consider new eden, try to maximize your market presence in a few products, and try to setup a system were you can profit if it waves up or down... if you make sure you can ride the waves interregionnaly, you dont have to update a lot, just when events hit the cluster. I have found out that you can set this up with a monthly routine and have fun while doing it.

It is doable, just need to find the right items. I started out in March 20th with 500 mil I SK on this character and have total of 3b (assets/wallet/orders) now. And i too have pretty limited time to update my orders. In general it's about 15-40m twice a day not more.

There's no way you made 600% profit in 3 weeks by only updating orders once or twice a day.... unless you got EXTREMELY lucky...

Twice a day on weekdays for 15-40m ; maybe ~3 hours total on each weekend.
As i said i sent 500m initial investment from main.

It can be done even with limited time. Just update before you go out. Also have a mix of high/medium/low volumes. Sometimes you are in a bidding war for hours, and sometimes you even get stuff while sleeping. Remember there are a lot of players and lot of items to trade.

Well, dunno how you do it, that's just some crazy profits for station trading over such a short term (considering you started out with such a low amount of ISK).

Only real luck i had was someone selling me 10 hammers for 20k isk (190m profit - on the 248m profit day), rest was just normal way of buying low / selling high while looking for 60-300% margin items with medium volume and just try to keep all order slots full of such items. In 500m profit day i spent a bit more time managing my orders as i was chilling at home compared to usual days. 100m/day is pretty normal for daily profit updating twice a day as u see.

There's some worthwhile info in this thread!

I've had around 2000 orders up at the height of my trading, spread all over the universe in minor 'hubs' I'd either taken over or essentially created. I left all the items up for the max 90 day limit, and basically just let them sell over time and updated prices once every 3-4 weeks.

This resulted in billions in profits often in a single week, and all the while I was off pew pewing with my PvP main.

As long as you pay him real money you can get a ton of information on how to station trade in a limited time, the same that you can get on YouTube for 0 real life monies.

That is the wonderful thing about Eve compared to other MMOs. There is such a wide area with a large array of things to work in. Thousands of items to work in and plenty of different markets to look in. Just need to find what works for you with your time frame. Big smile

Talana that's not strictly correct. When it comes to station trading I give away all of my information for free on YouTube and don't charge anything. See it here (on my website is all the supporting information and charts with additional commentary on why I traded the items I did during the video - the link to that is below the YouTube video)

The paid section of my website is for Inter-Hub Trading and various types of detailed Inter-Regional trading.
