Client Takes 2 Min to Open The First Time (Then fine until restart)

Hello,

Not sure where to start with this problem, can't narrow it down to when it started exactly. I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro a couple days ago, but EVE also had a patch that same day so can't tell if its my clean windows install or the patch but it didn't do this before hand.

When I start my PC up for the day it takes around 2 min for the client to open (Using launcher or bin folder .exe) Once ive opened a client once, it will open instantly the rest of the day. I have download everything selected and nothing with my system has changed. Before you tell me my computer is to slow, its a newer gaming machine I built last year, runs everything else perfect.

Game is installed on my SSD, its a new Samsung EVO 850 Pro, i get the same performance also when installed on the data drive. 2 min before i see my client open only the first time after my system has started up.

Ive tried the rescache.exe and it said i had no errors with my client. Also repair.exe found nothing either... please help.

Anyone know how to fix this? Seems a couple others i know have the same problem.

I have had exactly the same problem since the "download" patch. I'm Win 7 though.

If you had ran the rescache.exe, then you already know the bazillion files* the EVE resources have been split into - post Scylla.
5 things you have to keep in mind that can contribute to the issue :

1) Cache files fragmentation, only applies if cache located on std HDD. Negligible impact for SSD afaik.
2) Virus scanner realtime scans. Put the cache into an exclusion list if this is causing the issue.
3) Windows indexing. Either customize its exclusion or disable it.
4) Windows drive caching. Disabled offers data reliability in sudden crash/reset/power failures situation at the cost of performance (my personal preference).
5) Check your SSD performance vs very large number of files, if the cache is on the SSD. COPY (not move) the EVE cache onto std HDD and test**.

*genius level CCP decision.
** you'll just need to do a simple re-direction of cache path in the launcher, then kill the launcher process and restart.

Hmm, after todays patch my client opened near instantly like it used to ill see if it stays this way.

EDIT: nope random occurrence, still takes 2-3 min to open now sometimes it takes 2-3 min even after ive had a client open

Yeah so I clean installed windows 8.1 again and downloaded the client from scratch and have download everything selected to make sure, still takes like 2-3 min to launch.

Don't think its something up with my computer after its done the same thing after 2 clean installs.
