Console game & PC game development. Good job.

"Quite a few seasoned console developers that it has built up over the years." - Hilmar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games.

Eve Valkyrie boss praises Occulus Rift developers in Newcastle

DUST 514 must have helped in gaining knowledge in consoles. Newcastle is a great shop. Valkyrie is the the future.

Consoles. Meh. Tell me when Valkerie and Dust are properly integrated into EVE and run on PCs.

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Valkyrie became a “rocketship” of enthusiasm at Fanfest, according to Pétursson. “Everyone loved it."

Well, I did not, but I was watchng the game on flat 2 d, without 3D gogles of some kind.
Will Valkyrie go in shops with free 3D hardware to play it on?
Probably not. But maybe it will be a game that you get for free if you buy certain 3D hardware.
So the whole enthusiasm will go where? Into a rocket and off to the other galaxy nobody heard of? Sales will not be high. CCP again finances Valkyrie from EVE players wallets, will not really gain much from it, like at beginning with Dust (that only survived with a help of player that knew that you have to listen to players, not CCP developers, to get Dust better).

I agree on the sales will not be high part, because I think that VR will take some time before it might get commercially viable. It's like a steering wheel or HOTAS joystick … useful for a very specific purpose, but not in high demand.

At least this time around CCP is not developing for a 10 year old console but for a technology that is still being developed for future release.

50% of DUST and VALKYRIE is a way for CCP to get their name printed in magazines / tech-news as a "visionary company". So if that gets them new subscribers and job applications from talented people … why not ? As long as they know that they will be judged on the released product AND also by people who are not CCP fanboys like most of us Smile

Don't anger the forum gods.

If Valkyrie is visionary, I am the first man on earth who smeared mayonnaise on his bread and put a cheese slice on top. Dust was more promising in this factor.
The best they could do is to have their game promoted by going to 3D gogle manufacturer, let them play their game whole, and bundling it with 3D googles if manufacturer will agree with the game quality.
