I'm a little confused. The ship was shown with it's "disguise" being deactived, but what did it turn into when that happened?

I wonder though, if the disguise would be limited to the size of the ship. For example, can a simple velator deploy some device that makes it look like a Brutix? Or the other way around perhaps? I don't see any dev blogs on this though my glance is cursory at best.
