So right now I'm still on the 30 day trial, and I just purchased my first cruiser. I can average about 2mil ISK an hour via mining if I'm diligent and focused. I have lost a couple ships already due to trying to get a good deal on ship equipment in low sec space. I just wanted to know if I'm off to a decent start on things at least with time management and profit generating.

Are you having fun?
If yes, "where you are" doesn't matter.
If not, it still doesn't matter.

That's the beauty of this game, the reality is nothing matters besides having fun.

Set some goals, accomplish goals or don't, just have fun.

I am not a miner but I suspect if you are getting 2mil an hour, you are doing just fine.

20 days aint enough to fly a cruiser "well". People say "well" meaning that you have the basic skills for T2 guns and/or defense mods and high ship bonuses

It takes a lot longer than that to fly anything by their defintion as "well"

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

Not.

Even.

Close.

He could be getting 700k every 10 minutes from venture.

Well it takes 20 minutes for me to fill up my ore hold, and I make over 700k each trip, but the problem is I usually get caught up with something else and will forget to go back out and mine again, so if I paid 100% attention to it I could make ~2.1m+ an hour with my venture.

That really isn't great, join a proper corp Twisted
I am not sure what PH offers, but running low level anoms in null will get you more than that, even belt rating will.
As said though, as long as you having fun its all that matters

in your first week and you can't even pay attention....

OP I take serious issue with your use of the word "should". This is not a linear game like most other so-called MMOs. Eve is about having fun with friends. In order to do that you need two things. First you need to make friends in Eve or bring friends to Eve or make friends in Eve and bring friends to Eve. Which ever way you do it you need friends. Then you need to have fun with them. Aside from paying for gametime there's nothing else you have to or should do.

If you are looking to make good isk however there are faster ways to do it than mining. That does not mean you should not mine just don't mine because you think it's great isk. Mine because you like to mine or find something you do like. You can make isk doing pretty much anything.

Because mining is so incredibly stimulating and nothing in the game could possibly sidetrack a new player from such a demanding task.

Well you're in a corporation so you should be talking to your other mates about what they think you should be doing.

You have a long way to go before you will be doing anything that could be called by other players "successful".

This game isn't linear so there is no formula for doing xy and z.

Train your skills, experiment, talk to others, and have fun.

If your corp mates aren't helping you then find a new corp.

Cheers and best of luck

Nomally I'd throw out some advice and what not, but you are in Pandemic Horde, which is an experiment in being new player friendly by Pandemic Legion, one of the premier null-sec pvp groups. Talk to the people in your corp, your alliance, and get active on the PL/PH communication locations (subreddits, voice comms, forums, etc.). If I am not mistaken, PL/PH has a mentoring system set up, so you might want to look into that. Use the resources available to you.

You're in Pandemic Horde? Where you should be is in nullsec blowing up stuff along with your fleetmates. Twisted Forget that mining stuff. I have no idea if they have a ship replacement program, but they'll at least be able to point you in the right direction for making ISK in whatever region you're operating in.

I've met players less than half my age who have made more ISK than I ever have. As the others have said, throw out everything you know about MMOs, most of it doesn't apply here. Pick something you want to do/accomplish, and I don't mean "fly a battleship" or something like that. That comes with time and patience. Think more along the lines of:

  • Learn something new today.
  • Blow someone up.
  • Explore a wormhole without dying.
  • Leave creepy messages outside WH a dweller's POS to freak them out.
  • Earn a reputation as an honest and trustworthy person (like Chribba).
  • Start and manage a successful corporation (hard as hell, experience is highly recommended before attempting).
  • Start up a new market in a commerce starved area of space.
  • Pick up the corpses of gank victims on trade hub undocks for your CQ tea parties (I was lonely that day).
  • Forum warrior.
  • Intercept suicide gank attempts.
  • Suicide gank.
  • Improve on whatever your favorite activity is (small gang/solo PVP for me).
  • Forum cleric.
  • BS in chat with your friends.
  • Make friends.
  • No really, go make space friends, NOW!
  • Betray your space friends. (not my thing, but some people want to be "the bad guy")
  • Organize events: probe/scanning scavenger hunts, PVP Thunderdomes etc...
  • Aid your chosen faction in conquering the FW zones.
  • Aid your (player) alliance/coalition in gaining/defending sovereignty of an area.
  • Ignore everything we tell you and figure it out the hard way.
  • Roleplay.
  • Troll people.
  • Forum wizard.
  • Scam people out of their earnings.
  • Become an 1337 EFT warrior (making up fits with OOG tools)
  • Trim my list.
  • Add to my list.
  • Make funny/informative/inspiring EVE related videos.
  • Use Cargo containers to create artistic representations of male genitalia in space.
  • Create and manage a successful chat channel, whether it's silly or pragmatic in theme.
  • Find my hair.
  • ...

I can't think of any more right now. Or, just use this handy dandy flowchart as a jump off point for trying new things.

Grrr.

At this point you should be focused on getting someone to swear to seek vengeance against you for a despicable act you committed against them.

After that you can think about crushing someone else dreams.

Normally I'd say that at this point is when it's best to grab cheap frigates and go into low sec to shoot at people and/or get shot by people, because of free clones until 1M SP or so.

However, they removed clone replacement costs, so I'm going to go with the "find a corporation and see what they're doing" answer from up-thread instead.

A couple mil an hour is probably fine income-wise for now. That's not the absolute optimum but it's not so low that you're necessarily doing something _wrong_. And it'll feed the PvP you can do as a new player easy enough.

Youll get more with missions. But if you dont want to play the game, then mining is a great way to make isk.
