Bumping out of align mechanic

As an almost 24/7 incursion runner, I am always on the move between incursion spawns. With my orca and bowhead pilot I move all my stuff from one spawn to another, always being targets of ganking attempts.

I never get targeted, until yesterday. I thought it was quite funny, some joker in a machariel bumping my orca out of alignment, asking for a ransom. I tried to give myself some more time by talking to him, waiting for a buddy to come with mwd battleship to bump him, so I can warp off. (Another alt with a webber didn't really help)

I got out safe.

Anything else I can do to stop this?

- Fit a MWD should be nice
- Use the webber alt to get a faster warp

Pay the ransom maybe?

Might not work. It might. It's another option though.

Have a webbing alt for all your trips, right from the start rather than as a reaction to a situation.

Those two work quite well. You could also scout the gate with a scout for Machs before you jump. This is probably only necessary near the popular choke points.

Tripplewebbing your ships into warp is the best way to go,
as it gives the least room for attacks.

It can be tricky to time with the other pilot,
as he is most likely still moving from the bump.

The alternative is to block the bumping shipn,
which is far more work and unreliable.
Or you pay, as Scipio said.

"Ha this guy paid the ransom".
- " Cool I'll add him as contact and try as well".

If you know you can get out ... don't pay and get out. :)

Hell no, I am not paying some douche 350m just to get my 2b orca out. I'd rather use that 350m to pay someone to kill him for 6 months.

Anyway, a friend of mine uses a Huginn to web his pilots down, I might try that. It's just that I never get into these situations, maybe like once every 6 months.

He's not a douche for doing this.

You are actually what he seeks.
Someone who isn't daft enough to die.

It just doesn't happen often.

In any case:

Hate the character, not the player.
The player does what he is allowed to do ...
... and that by it's own does not allow proper judgement.

Thanks!

Nah theres no real way around it other than some luck. CCP hasn't a clue how to fix it so its part of the official game play now.

I love how when there's a mechanic at play people don't like, they blame CCP's inability to fix a non-existent problem.

Such a bad mechanic really its like trying to stop a van from moving by smashing a car into it.... wouldnt work in real life so should work in the game its unfair and i think they should crack down on this.

Except there is no friction nor gravity in space. Smash the van with a car that has an mwd and in space, you now have Physics 1. Put a shield on them and voila it works just like ingame.

I think if people are deadset on comparing real life to game they should compare apple to apples instad of apples to oranges.

If he's bumping you in a similar direction each time, trying to keep you aligning to nothing warpable, fly a cloaked ship with triple webs in your fleet >150km away in that direction, warp to that ship then immediately re-warp to where you want to go using the webs. Usually by the time he's got back to you, you can be gone. Can be tricky to line up sometimes, but once you've done it a few times you get the hang of it.

The tactics an realizing what ppl actually do in this game after joining depress the sh1t out me, i thought i was getting into some epic space opera fueled by the players, instead all i ever see is one grief one system after the next.

Reading an watching eve, sigh sometimes i just wish to go back to that than having the games reality in my face

What? That will only encourage the exploit.

Once upon a time the Golem had a Raven hull and it looked good. Then it transformed into a plataduck. The end.

I "love" this attitude. No matter how much of a jerk someone can be, people still think it's OK because its only a game. Even if that means the characters actions by the player, results in unfair misery and the eventual outcome of disinterest and hate of the game.

You could talk to him to buy some time while you are safe logging out (30sec?). Keep an alt in system and relog when they lose interest or are out of position.

1. Purchase a Mining Permit. Don't let the name fool you as it also covers freighters. The Code is a one-stop-shop for all of your compliancy needs.
2. Eject your pod. It's virtually impossible to bump lock a pod.
3. Purchase a Mining Permit.
4. Use an escort. Why are you flying lumbering, valuable ships that have no means of returning fire alone?
5. Purchase a Mining Permit.
6. Don't AFK or use autopilot. It's hard to avoid bumping if there's nobody at the wheel.
7. Purchase a Mining Permit.
8. Pay the ransom.
9. Purchase a Mining Permit.
10. Use a scout/gather intel. There are many channels to find out what systems bumpers and gankers are currently operating in. Use this information to your advantage and avoid them.
11. Purchase a Mining Permit.

I use a Loki with twin faction webs, just don't pay a ransom because they only do that if they have nothing around to gank you and if anti-gankers are around they cannot hyperdunk you, its very easy to stop.

People need to join the channel Anti-Ganking and then its intel channel, note that the Anti-Ganking channel does have CODE trolls that will try to drive you out or put you off of being in there, but persevere, the intel channel can be a bit light at times, and the main focus is around the Uedama and Niarja pipes, but the more people do things the better.

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.
