Loving it. Tried to play a few times over the years, but was too easily sidetracked by another MMO. Went all in, wife bought me 6mo sub, having a blast.

Rolled minmatar because I like the race, crosstrained Amarr because I really like their ship design & laser beams, currently training Caldari Frig 5 because I want to try this stealth bomber business.

Strangely though I'm having more fun in a crucifier than in a battlecruiser. Anyone else just like frigates more?

Aside from the Minmater bit**, congrats.

I used to like frigates. Since T3 destroyers have come out, I fly them less and tend to be in more cruiser sized hulls, which have as much variety as frigates, but I find the pvp more interesting - perhaps from doing a lot of frigate pvp early on where developing routine and fast reactions helps with survivability because the fights are so quick. Cruiser pvp seems to benefit from that foundation, or so it seems to me anyway.

You are quite correct, i like flying frigates more than any other subcap.
The good thing in eve is that bigger is not always better.

You better keep a close eye on her. She must be up to something.

Hah. she bought herself one as well. Income tax return = splurge time and all that.

Scipio - my few attempts at solo pvp have been been me spending a couple of hours fitting a ship & getting into lowsec, then getting destroyed before I can activate a MWD lol. Like so fast that a kill report was generated before I actually saw myself explode xD I have a lot to learn in that regard. Perhaps it gets better in t3.

I'm not sure why but I have a major nerdgasm over the crucifier & amarr design philosophy in general.

Yeah it happens. Biggest thing is to not be discouraged and keep analysing each loss to figure out what you could have dnone differently to prevent it. When you can't figure it out, there are always people here and through in game channels as well as the guys who killed you, that will always be willing to help with advice and answers to questions.

That approach leads to continual learning and improvement and makes you much better over time.

It's sometimes hard not to get angry or frustrated, but if you can let that gp, solo pvp is a lot of fun and a good way to learn.

If you ever want to roam together, I'm more than happy to fleet up anytime I am online.

Roger that & I appreciate it!

I don't get angry or frustrated - I was slightly disappointed to have died so fast that I didn't even get to learn why lol. But them's the breaks.

My favourite ship is my shoe! (not hard to figure out if you know it ^_^)

Small, fast and tightly fitting. ^_^

I love frigates but half the time people just bring bigger ships....

Maybe try speaking to the guy once you get killed by him ask him some advice on your fit/what to do in battle this is what helped me when i started PvPing i asked the people i fought what i could do better and where i went wrong and they usually were kind enough to help....

one even gave me a new ship as a replacment,

Same here, I really like frigs / ceptors / bombers, solo or in fleet, also I like T1 cruisers, mostly in fleets. Bigger stuff is too slow, I like the fast paced PvP and the convenience to get around New Eden quickly.

Few weeks in + battleships

That is the main problem. Don't train into them until you have 10M+ SP.
You need a lot of tank, navigation, weapons, etc skills to make them work well.

Personally, I like battlecruisers the most, they have the right sort of tank and spank that I like. Battleships are too much spank without enough tank especially for the cost.

Currently for fleets though you want to focus on cruisers so maybe rat in a battle cruiser then train into those T2 and T3 cruisers of one race.
Third party sites have good fits, find one, read the comments and try aim for it. A fully fleshed ship with a game style you enjoy gives you ISK that enables you to do more.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Good advice, wrong thread.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

frigs are the best =D comets and slicers can rule the worlds with some griffin support =P i think you can stay with frigs and cruisers, and having sooooo much fun with them =) try to have small gang pvp. join to a small, but active pvp corp, even like mine =) and without the basics you will die a lot. basics means some skills, and knowledge for example about dscan, tactical insta-undock scanning and safe bookmarks, understanding about fitting, ships, and predictable fit of the opponent, manual fly, and some other things... if you gonna do solo, be prepared, the 1v1 is a rare thing =D in my 1 year i got about 10 or so fair fights =P have fun Big smile omm.... jameson... when yoi will have amar frigs on lvl 5 with t2 lasers and t2 web or ab,... omm the slicer has 3 meds, right? if just 2, then t2 ab, some navigation skills, and lvl 3 armor resistance skills, and you can afford it, navy slicer will be your love =)

Frigs rule although I adore T3 destroyers. The Confessor is just so damn fun to fly. Makes doing wormhole anoms an absolute joy.

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

Want to make New Eden a nice place? Try this out.

i play since 2010 and use frigates most of the time. So yeah, nothing unusual with that ;)

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

The game does a pretty bad job, in that its skill system implyies that there's a progression from small ships to big ones. In practice there isn't. Different ships have different strengths and different roles.

It's not that I don't like flying the occasional giant engine of death, but my heart is really with cruiser and smaller hulls.

I second Brutus Utama's recommendation that you talk to the people who blow you up. You have a good attitude about it, which is the #1 most important thing, so most people will be happy to shoot you some pointers.

Just out of the blue, if you're getting alpha'd off the field, you're probably either not moving when he shoots or flying straight at your opponent. Just to pick one easy option: if you set an orbit right away, you'll be harder to hit because your opponent's ship will have trouble tracking you. This gives you what's called "transversal velocity," which small ships live by.

$hit, youre right xD t3 dessies are fu€king cheap these days... almost like 2 fitted comets in price, but it can **** 2 comets :/ i want my gal t3 dessie =( so yes, comets, slicers, t3 dessies, t2 frigs, bombers, and all kind of cruisers are fun. but stay with the cheap frigs until you feel confident about your knowledge, and in combat :)

It's not a problem at all, I don't fly a battleship & never said I did. Cool

Battlecruiser's as high as I've gotten, trying to get core skills going & faction cross-training is more important than rushing up to the big stuff..

I've lots to learn about pvp, one insurance contract at a time.
