Are there any plans to do an update on station interiors?

As they are places many Eve players spend quite a bit of time looking at it seems like quite a good bang for your buck upgrade.

YES, god yes, please update the station interiors! It makes no sense (from an real life point of view) that station interiors from different factions, different station sizes, and sometimes thousands of lightyears apart all seem the share the same 4 architect dudes...

I would love it for example if we could have station interiors where for example we could see part of an asteroid as the wall, if the station is for example part of an asteroid, like this one. Something like this one for example.

I get that from an artistic point of view it would be a nightmare to give every single station a different interior, which is why for example Elite: Dangerous has the same problem as Eve Online, but a few more options is definitively more than welcome! Besides, since (unlike Elite: Dangerous) we do not fly our ships in ourselves and we are basically stationary except some ship spinning, you could do some interesting things with procedural generation. Are there currently any plan for that?

Modular station interiors. Every Station have their own combination of modules predefined procedurally with a different value, with different patterns from industrial to military to entertainment or office places. Even upgrading current interiors by sticking into them those modules with that mechanism, would make great improvement to originality of the interior.

Oh god that would be wonderful.

So I take it the structure objects themselves aren't changing much in-game for you to have put this much Precious Developer Time (tm) into them ahead of a structure rebalance and complete rework?

I'm not sure why that would be assumed. Without knowing the effort of applying this effect to new structures there is no reason to assume there won't be significant changes. If applying the effect to new objects takes inconsequential time/effort there's not much reason to wait until the full rework.

Big smile

those pics look fantastic -- I'm not one to spend too much time looking at art - but I definitely do like to see some good things like this!!!!

Ditto on the in-station art as well - currently there is no real reason to leave the ship for captain's quarters as they are all the same. Some additional variety would be nice.

I know this next is OT - but don't know where to place it. As a trader I depended a lot on contribtastic -- all the messages say it's no longer of value - and yet, I do not see the market update as it would with contribtastic. Please direct me to the correct post for this. Thanks

Yeah when? Straight

And it comes a bit over as weird to me that it looks like we're back to the age of a "classic" client and a "premium" client, now dx9 vs dx11. There was a real good reason why the "classic' client was abandoned at some point. Is that something that's in pipe for this too, as in phasing out dx9 machines?

Dear CCP,

You need to stop working on these things that don't matter and instead work on the many, MANY things in this game that desperately need to be balanced. Battleships, capital ships, insurance costs to payouts, why carriers can dock when they're a good majority of the size of the station and why supers can't dock for this same reason, the vanishing modules and charges when contracts are made between alts (lost a total of at least 40 sister core scanners at this point) and really just every other fix that needs to happen. I get it, you want the game to look pretty, but honestly, how many people sit there the full anchoring time to see the tower come up? Not a soul. Anyone who says that is full of ****. We stay there to make sure the tower anchors and doesn't get shot.

I found this old forum post about balance issues and found it hilarious that only a fraction of the proposed changes in 2013 have actually been implemented by 2015. You guys are a joke anymore which really sucks because I used to respect the hell out of you.

Soooo, considering POSes are going away soon, I am guessing this effect will also be used for other structures?

also will the music that is included in the video be included in this update ?

To be honest though... considering all the amazing eve graphics are hidden behind white / red crosses and excel sheets I often wonder you guys even bother. You do amazing work... its just that we never really see it.

Its a nice effect and player structures have needed something like this for a while (the old system being dated).

But I hope the future structure system will have some in-depth construction, progression and interaction.

Watching this 'printer' print things will not be able to amuse us forever.

DirectX 9 is 13 (!) year old software. It's about time CCP took the step to phase out DirectX 9 in favor of more recent versions. So yes, it's most likely that they're going that route. And who can blame them? Geometry shaders are useful for quite alot and allows optimization of several things that's currently in the game, I.E. the billboard objects in the game.

Hey mate, you're aware that the art department does SEPERATE work from the game design department? It's two completely parallel processes, so the stuff these guys do is not *less* time spent on game design.

I would actually set up a tower ad fuel it purely as a tea shop given the module to do so Big smile

Nanites? Really? This makes absolutely no sense with the whole industry attached. Organic Mortar? Construction Blocks? Self Harmonizing Power Cores? Nope. Nanites. Why even go through the industry processes to build all of these if you just have nanites that magically assemble the thing from raw materials? Or is this just preparation to get rid of all industry and have it done by magic nanites completely? Who needs industry if you can just pay ISK for magic nanites?

Given that TransGaming just announced DX11 support last month, I imagine it's in the pipeline.

It's not nearly as simple as flipping a switch, or we'd have it by now, but it's probably just a question of testing, bug fixes and time now.

This is very good work. Thank you. The act of anchoring and onlining stuff is very tedious at the moment. This is definitely welcome.

It is a pity that so many are here just to bash. When the new structures come online it would seem this new graphical process will be lovely to behold. As for the means of construction, well a good point has been made. There are so many different PI and mineral requirements the lore aspect of the new graphic might need to be revised.

Geometry shaders, eh? Does this potentially mean that cosmetic ship damage isn't too far off? P

Wicked cool effect. Smile
