I've been running round in WH space and low sec in my manticore and I've been successful once (killed a venture , still counts) but the second time I lost, and just felt like I missed something. I've been watching Wingspan and watching his videos on a few things like using tripwire for WH mapping but I've also seen him copy the targets name somewhere to get the ship's he's lost.

Just wondering is if there's some other programme I need/should use to help myself though space like tripwire and if you guys could help me out a little?

Many Thanks

You can try checking a pilot out on zkillboard. That can give you an idea of what kind of stuff he flies and loses. I don't know how practical a stealth bomber would be in lowsec, but I guess that more depends on how you chose to hunt. Typically that ship does not perform well against the smaller ships that you're more likely to find flying solo.

A bomber has a very narrow engagement profile in solo mode and usually loses against any frigate except other cov ops frigs. Never engage a T1 scanner frig if you didn't verify it is shitfit before checking the player on a killboard. For solo ganking there are two principle fits, small guns + double scram for explorers and torps + TP for haulers and AFK miners*. Everything else is normally out of range for a solo bomber, except confirmed shitfit or AFK.

*non-AFK miners will make short work of you with their drones if you can't take them out with 2 volleys.

I made that mistake of taking on a person who wasn't afk .... and... i lost and died!

So zkillboard is a good point that's something i haven't considered before!

But is there anything else i need todo if i were to roam in a frigate that scans down too, as how am i meant to engage somone at a combat site if i can get locked by an NPC thats there when im not in a stealth bomber?

Just first time doing pvp so just need some pointers on how to engage the targets when i dont know they're there and if they are i could just be flying into a trap!

Thanks

For succesful solo PvP you need good skills or gimmick fits like the famous triple neut Tristan I used to get my first solo kill against a much older comet pilot. I would recommend to find a good group to fleet up and learn the ropes. Either a PvP corp or one of the NPSI communities.

Have you considered joining some public NPSI fleets? Bombers Bar comes to mind. Those groups might be a good place to learn what you can and can't do in a SB.

Bombers typically don't fare well on their own versus other combat ships. Particularly frigates, particularly if they can't use bombs.

If you want to kill people in lowsec in a bomber hunting PVE folks may be your best option.

this. such a valuable tool for solo stuff

Domination Nephilim - Angel Cartel

Calm down miner. As you pointed out, people think they can get away with stuff they would not in rl... Like for example illegal mining... - Ima Wreckyou*

dont use a bomber for solo. dual webber merlin is good for booth kiting or brawling. im a gal pilot mostly, so atron, tristan, incursus are my best cheap brawling advices. later on you can try kiting. btw, first you should try out small gang engagements to learn about ships, tactics, predictable fit of the opponents... frigs are fun, and with some of them, there are some viable cruiser targets as well :) just dont engage neuter, and drone cruisers and above with a frig. have fun =)

This.

Bombers are for killing Cruisers and up. Specifically, for ganking unsuspecting ships and/or those not fit for pvp. The engagement profile of bomber is VERY narrow. Know this before you take one out. Bombers have classically done well wormhole diving, but a cov ops T3 does that job equally well and provides a modicum of survivability.

i suggest anyone new to pvp join a faction war corp. i firmly believe it is the most effective way to learn pvp

as a former gallente i recommend mecha enterprises (xmeta) Smile

Stealth Bombers are very niche ships, amd are only truly effective in small gangs, or at the very least paired with someone else. And on top of that, wormholes are difficult for inexperienced pilots, amd their mechanics differ from the rest of space.

If you're truly new to PvP, I would spend some time getting a bunch of cheap frigate or cruiser fits shipped to lowsec or a system next to lowsec, then just soend time roaming around looking for fights. Faction war complexes, DED sites, asteroid belts, planets; you'll learn how PvP works, and what you want to engage and what to avoid.

Flying expensive ships solo has two big problems: most of the time other solo pilots wont engage you unless they're stupid or are confident in their ability to take out your ship, and secondly you'll be a more lucrative target for roaming fleets.
