Are there any must-have 3rd party tools I should be looking into?

Going to try my hand at some station trading, and was wondering if there are any tools I should get my hands on. The somewhat older guide I've been looking at to get me started mentioned Eve Mentat and Elinor, but both of those projects seem to have been abandoned some time ago.

Do you guys use any tools?

I use eve HQ to help determine my NAV.

Eve-mogul is a pay subscription service, but is wonderful for determining your profits monthly, and the fee is very small. I loved it very much.

Excel, Access if you know how to use it. Access web apps work well in the IGB too, but need a SharePoint server for that.

Yes, mine (see signature). Blink

There's also ...

- Evernus
- NEAT
- EVE Market Companion

... to name a few.

EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager.

Although not strictly a tool for station trading, jEveAssets is fairly awesome.

Kind of buggy though... I prefer jEveAssets & N.E.A.T. Eve Accounting Tool (http://pwning.de/neat/)
And EveHQ for everything else. (assets are broken in eveHQ)

I was wondering, how's mentat going? It's not been updated for a long time and there has been a lot back and forth regarding the "legality" of it's cache import abilities?

Cache scraping, while technically illegal, will only get pursued if other illegal things (like botting) are also found.

This is currently void anyway, though, since the cache scraper doesn't work since Scylla, and there has been no answer from the dev.

I'm currently looking for a replacement program for my market trader, but EVEMentat still does a decent job. I could export all orders manually, but that would mean to spend a couple of minutes hitting "Export" while the script cycles through the orders, so I currently check and adjust prices manually and only use Mentat to check my margins and keep an eye on which orders need to be refilled.

I saw there words "try my hand at some station trading" and "the somewhat older guide" and figured this station trading video may help you out. Hopefully this wasn't the 'old guide' you were talking about.... haha LolCool

I've never personally used third party trading software because... well, it's just never helped me make isk. The little investigation I've done on them have shown that some are better than others and each seems to have it's own little bugs (which may be resolved now, I've not checked any out in a couple of years). I haven't checked out Eve-Mogul (with the hyphen in the name and URL) which has no affiliation with me just for the record, looks nice and flashy though and there's some good reports around.

It's probably a matter of trying them all and seeing which fits the bill best. Initially though, if you're just starting out trading you certainly don't need any third party software (if ever at all unless you get a kick out of using them).
