I managed to get EVE running but here's what I see when I login

What do I need to do to fix this, and can you dumb down your explanation as much as possible because I'm quite stupid when it comes to Linux?

Probably should put this into the howto already. This problem creeps out every two weeks

sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386

Also. What's your videocard?

Because if you have NVidia, you probably should get proprietary drivers instead. Since nouveau is, uhh, not without problems.

Yes I have NVidia. What command should I use instead?

sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

Then reboot.

Only, do you, by chance, have some hybrid graphics? Like an optimus laptop or something?

No. Ok will install that and then reboot.
