Hey guys, it's time for another meetup!

Saturday, April 18th at 1700.

Where: Dogfish Alehouse in Falls Church. It worked last time and trying to find somewhere else has been a huge pain.

Stuff: We have swag and Daehan Minhyok has hinted at a raffle for the newest limited edition artbook!

Why don't I have a location yet?
Well, we're getting big. Last time we had about fifty people show up which is great but it leaves us struggling with a location a bit. So, let's discuss that and we can update the op's location when we decide upon it. We're not organized yet to do the ticket and reservation and thing and I love yall but my wallet isn't big enough to pay for monthly parties. This means we need a place big enough to hold us. A lot of places are just small.

So! If you have ideas, present them. We can just pick another of the Dogfish Head places and scare everyone again. The Fudrucker's in Fairfax off of 123 is an open seating place. Not a huge drink selection but the food is good and they are roomy. I've looked at a few pubs and such but most don't have the open seating that we need or the room in their open seating. Also, we've been doing meets on Saturdays which gets busy. But that is one reason I moved the time up an hour so that we can get wherever we will be earlier and take over the place.

I've been trying to keep it wrapped up around DC and by the metro but that may not be a choice anymore as we get bigger. Once the summer hits we'll have to plan a grill in a park but for now this is what we are working with.

Planning for a group of 50 people is what one could call "fun". Most of the places I can think of that are big enough and a decent atmosphere in the burbs look like breweries or larger chains.

Falls Church - Mad Fox is just down the road from Dogfish and I remember it being a little bigger, although it's been a couple years since I've been there. http://madfoxbrewing.com/ - 1.5 mi from metro says google so not any more/less accessible.

Falls Church - Dogfish Head - where we were last time. I think we all fit... sort of.

In the district:

Okay, most of the bigger places here are around Chinatown, generally. The risk for this specific weekend is that it's the first weekend of hockey playoffs, the Capitals look like they're going to make it in, and the playoff schedule hasn't been announced yet. We probably don't want to roll in with a group of 50 if there's a hockey game being played literally across the street, but meeting at 1700 should put us early enough that it's not a super huge issue.

All of these are relatively large spaces and within a couple blocks of metro.

Outside of downtown, if there's a time that we know that weather will be good, there's a large, metro-accessible outdoor beer garden in the Shaw neighborhood, http://dachadc.com/ I mention the weather here since this is a purely outdoor space, would be decidedly sub-optimal if it decided to rain. That said, we've gotten super lucky with nice weather for all of our meetups to date...

Also, if anyone knows of solid places for large groups on the MD side of the area, please share, I looked around a lot and didn't find all that much.

I think you messed up on the date. We're planning a get together on the 18th at Bull Run Park.

Not really but I'm not attached to any particular date. I pick Saturdays for convince. Those not going to yours can go to the other!

Yes it did. I cannot calendar as well as I might hope.

I've been scoping out places and running around tearing my hair out. I say let's just go back to the Dogfish Alehouse in Falls Church and be that what it may. Next Saturday, starting at 1700. I'll have presents again.

There's a Metro stop in Falls Church; I can pick you up and drop you off later there if you want but I'm not going to stay very late (maybe 10.30) because it's a 2-hour drive home for me. Give me a shout on Skype if you want to work this out.

Hey Sugar, is there another meetup coming soon to the Va/Dc/Md area. Im in Va so distance shouldn't be a problem.
