So basically as the header says, I stock piled some bil of ore and I was wandering if it would be better to wait to refine AFTER the patch, or do it before. Which will yield more minerals?

It's mixed across all ore found in Null (except Mercx)

Im too lazy too work it out myself :/ is there a tool anywhere yet?

wondering*

I'm sorry, but lazyness should be punished.

Wait until after the patch.

It's not the amount of minerals you should be concerned with, but the value of those minerals.

I don't really care about the value so much as the volume as its for personal use in Null Sec

Is there a dev blog yet that shows what the change will be?

If so take the amounts you get now from the minimum refinable and compare to the future minimum refinable. Then apply math to the numbers to see how your amount will compare for current refining and future refining.

Please be aware that the mineral value of ores changes daily. However, my math says wait.

All-in-all, you should wait. All Null-sec ores will have the values of their outputs increased. Calculated in today's mineral-prices, your ore will be worth 20'ish % more after the patch.

BUT that is without taking into account what the patch-changes do to the market and the price itself, and without guessing at what happens when the stockpiles people have built up get released. So naturally, using today's mineral prices is going to be incorrect...it's indicative at best.

But at the end of the day: The point of the change is to make Null Sec mining more valuable. If they succeed in doing so, your ore will be worth more after the patch than it was before...by some unknown factor.

(The only one that's iffy is Gneiss. If you have that stockpiled, I'd consider refining it, since that one could swing either way.)

This is an interesting topic.

Would the refining yields on ore mined pre-patch carry over, or be overwritten by the new changes? As an example: I think I remember being unable to refine the ships built prior to Tierice for more minerals than what had been used to produce them. Smile
