5 EVE rules you should know.

1- Insure your ship. Unless you are somehow 100% sure your ship won't pop, it's a good idea to spend the insurance fee since it let's you replace you ship and fitting or at least give the money back. This is not useful at all on tech 2 and faction ships tho, because the prices and the insurance's fee and payout is totally outdated.

2- Don't Fly what you cannot afford to lose // Whenever you undock, you agree you might not dock in the same ship again. Sad, crude, but true.

3- Whenever you go into a wormhole, make sure you have your probes. And I don't mean "let someone else do the scanning", I mean always bring your probes.

4- Pick up your drones before warping. This one is really easy to forget, ya, really.

5- Don't mix turrets range. It only reduces your DPS and complicates your positioning. It is, however, recommendable to use as many damage types as you can.

Hope this is useful to anyone.

1) Only insure ships worth something and likely to die in the time frame
2) Blue ball, make many deep safe tacticals everywhere and keep a mobile depot + cloak handy
3) When you go into a worm hole take a gang with probes and know what you are up against PVP and PVE wise
4) Know your short cuts SHIFT + R to recover drones fast
5) Don't mix guns and launchers.
6) Ask people lots of questions, experimenting with fits from scratch or mining in an industrial is sad.
7) Read, research and read some more
8) Fly what you can afford to lose, eggs in many baskets.
9) Wear a chastity belt and gag when you go out, leave the keys at home
10) Don't write the obvious on General Discussion the trolls will be all over you

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

From the perspective of a supercarrier pilot:

1. I can't insure my ship.
2. I can't dock/undock.
3. I can't go into WH's.
4. My fighters/fighter bombers follow me in warp.
5. I can't use turrets/launchers.

I'm glad people say supercarriers are soooo OP Lol

Ok back to OP, true for all 5.

Been around since the beginning.

This thread should probably be moved here but im sure there are a lot of vets that make the rookie mistakes every now and then. I know i have a time or two.

Destiny always seems decades away, but suddenly it's not decades away; it's right now. But maybe destiny is always right now, right here, right this very instant, maybe.

Why is the golden rule nowhere to be found in this thread?

Say it with me.

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose...

It was mentioned Tiger.

Number 8.

From the perspective of a suicide ganker:

1. We won't be getting any insurance.
2. If I dock in the same ship, I've failed, or have committed a bannable offense.
3. I don't fit probes to my gankships, or take them into wormholes
4. My drone bay has already exploded
5. Don't you worry about our fits, we've been fine-tuning them for years.

Who put the goat in there?

You're preaching to the choir here; we know all these rules. Might want to post in the Newbie Q/A forum, as they seem to be your intended audience.

1) Use the search feature.
2) No really, use the search feature.
3) The rules are in the upper right hand corner. I'll wait while you review them.
4) Starting thread to complain gets old really fast.
5) Have Fun™!

Only if you use input multiplexing to find the results faster than normal players would be able to.
