Annual Ceremony of Remembrance and Prayer - Battle of Mekhios

On June 10th, I will be holding a Ceremony of Remembrance and Prayer on the anniversary of the Battle of Mekhios. [[The time will be announced later with an update in this placeholder]]

In that battle, Blessed Jamyl, the soon to become Empress Jamyl I, returned to save her People through a Divine Miracle and dealt the blow, through the Miracle of the Abbadon, that ultimately turned the tide of battle and ended in the defeat of the Elder invasion.

Despite the ultimate victory of the Amarr, multiple worlds were ravaged with extensive destruction and injury to persons, environment, and infrastructure and billions perished and were injured in the treacherous invasion by the Minmater "Elders" in contravention of existing treaties and understandings with the 4 great powers and Concord. Concord itself was unlawfully assaulted in order to facilitate the treachery. It is my intention at that Ceremony to remember those who we have lost and the lessons the Amarr have learned from this event.

All faithful and loyal members of the Empire and Kingdom and treasured Allies are invited to this Ceremony. Last year's was well-attended and I look forward to seeing old and new faces.

Please message me for an invitation and/or for requests to speak. The location will be provided at that time.

I'll not sally forth to battle the small-minded brigade of furriers that will no doubt scurry forth to post on the IGS after I post this. I have better things to with my time, like reflect, and pray.

I believe we're all VERY lucky that the raids didn't continue on to the point where general state of war existed between the Empire and the Republic. Such a conflict would have dragged both of OUR nations in as well and it's hard to believe the thing would have ended without the scorching of whole worlds - if not systems.

As little as you might want to, you have the restraint of Empress Jamyl to thank for that - after her initial devastation of the Elder fleet, she would have been quite within her rights to pursue it back into the Minmatar home systems.

Had our worlds been bombarded with biological agents, I'm not sure it's a decision I could have made - especially after trashing a fleet that size on home ground. Perhaps you're right - still, it doesn't change matters significantly. If it had come to a war where we talk about casualties in terms of Gigadeaths, it's still a good thing that it didn't happen, eh?

I can't say I feel much in the way of pity for the world's we gassed, and I'm not to sore about getting chased off either... it took them fielding an untested superweapon to do it, we made a good show of it. But it probably is good we didn't continue that. Wish we had at least popped that Abaddon on the way out, though.

No argument here.

A d to the Amarr present; it was less the to-be Empress' restraint and more the fact that the superweapon crippled her Abbadon, if I remember correctly. That, and the fact that trying to take on reserve fleets in the Republic is not the wisest strategic descicion.

Props to the clone of Jamyl Sarum for having the strategic sense to not try and invade, however.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

I suppose we should settle for being grateful that you're highly unlikely to find yourself in control of a superweapon. I sometimes wish such things had minds of their own, so that they could resist being used frivolously.

It's almost as if you think I would enjoy using such a thing. Don't mistake me for your friend Kim, I personally have no desire to see my enemy ground beneath my heel then put on display. Only the return of what was stolen from us, not unlike yourself with your homeworld. I will not offer apologies for our methods either, it does a disservice to those who died.... on both sides.
