Reason for multiple POSes?

Hey guys, not sure if this is the best place for this, but if I'm going to setup a manfacturing/research POS in highsec, is there any reason I would want more than one, if everything I want fits on a single pos (can online defenses if wardecced).

We'll have multiple corp members using it, but like... I can't seem to come up with a reason to have more than one now that slots are unlimited. Or am I misunderstanding?

If you can do it in one, it is cheaper.

If you need several different types of ship arrays, or different types of labs, you may need more than one.

It's possible to anchor and online almost all arrays and laboratories you need. If you want to play around with configurations, use this tool: http://eve.1019.net/. And if you decide to go for a large tower, anchor defenses in case you expect to get wardecs and don't log in every day.

One reason to separate your POS functions to multiple:

Each POS lost is a reduced percentage of the total. If you spread things around, you lose less when you lose one.

That may, or may not, be a suitable reason to split them.

You don't need multiple POSes unless you want POS services near multiple market hubs.
Only in 0.0 there is a real reason for more then one POS.

An interesting perspective I had not considered.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

A few thoughts:

* Having two pos's means that you won't have to constantly online/offline structures which also means that you're more likely to be ready for wardecs or not lose lengthy jobs in labs/assembly arrays that you have to offline when a wardec starts.
* Having two pos's in the same system allows you to quickly take down one of them and move its modules to the other (very useful when upgrading from a medium tower to a large).
* Having two pos's is almost required when doing extensive industry with cpu/power intensive modules (moon reaction arrays in lowsec can have quite harsh requirements).
* Having two pos's can help provide additional personal hanger space for larger corps if you divide up half the corp to one pos, and the other half to the other.
* If you are in a wormhole, you might want to make it harder for attackers to camp your pos...if one of your pos's gets bubbled, the other might still be useable.
