If it's that big of a problem to you, you could just create an OV without shuttles on it and use that for D-scanning. Or probe them down. Or, if they're in a POS, wardec them and kill them. Or extend your D-Scan window and sort by type.

Shuttles are what, five times smaller than any other ship? That means it'd take five times the effort to dump frigates in space to achieve the same result*. And the cost is easily more than ten times greater. So yeah, maybe somebody would do the same thing with frigs or greater, but it's several times more difficult and in this case they haven't.

*Unless this is hisec and they're piloting them to the station one at a time, in which case lorl.

If a system is cluttered with assorted POS trash, you may find it difficult to spot a threat on d-scan Blink

To the OP, usually you find this stuff all in one spot, find the correct range and reduce the scan a bit below that.

Friendly hint, simply remove the shuttles from your d-scan tab. :)

Right click, Exclude. Then reload the saved setting when you leave system.

While that works sometimes there's often times you need to scan for something within the range of the spam.

I duno, I just felt this is akin to dumping a load of cans at a gate to lag fights. It's not particularly interesting game mechanics imo

Maybe more complex filter options on the overview/dscan window might solve this. Like being able to select items directly in the dscan window and ignore ONLY those items (so in your case those POS'd shuttles won't appear, but any other shuttles will).

There is already a function for that. Just slide either the top or bottom dscan slider.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

Of course you can angle your scan down or reduce the range but it would be a nice and useful feature. Especially around systems that have a ridiculous amount of ships in the POS. It's not a problem in most systems though.

Was that highsec? If so, it's not d-scan spam, it's simply a cache that a ganker is using to pull concord. But yeah, it's annoying. I just setup another tab that doesn't have shuttles. As mentioned, it is a huge PITA to do it with anything but shuttles. You can always go scoop them all and send some annoyance back to the gankers. Blink
