Interesting phrase noted while I was redeeming my gifts today at the login screen.

Please do not get me wrong - I appreciate CCP was kind enough to give gifts to the player base. And perhaps their redeeming program is equal to or parallel to how items would be granted through the Nex store. But after this year's earlier episode reaction involving potential micro transactions in this game, that phrase may rub some people the wrong way.

Anyway, "Bah Humbug!" or "Happy Holidays!" - your choice.

Protip: this gift selection was a trial run for the DUST storefront. Since code reuse is a good thing it shouldn't be too surprising to see the same thing here.

It doesn't take a genius to realise that this is a simple mass test of the upcoming NEX/DUST store, albeit gift wrapped in some PR goodness.

Oh c'mon... The nex store starts small, but I hope there will be some brains added to it later, it won't be that bad.

Plus it's another thing CCP can earn money on, I don't understand the uproar of some feature they do not use.

three words:

Pay to win.


The fear (irrational or not) of the playerbase is that CCP will go full retard with the nex store and introduce gold ammo and gold ships at some point, which will entirely invalidate one of the basis that the game is built on (i.e. the player driven market).
