Help with TriExporter

Hey guys,

I need some help. I downloaded TriExporter 2012, and then watched the YouTube tutorials. The problem is, the tutorials say that when you unzip the file, it will ask you to "set folder". The file that I downloaded does not unzip, but opens right up to TriExporter, and does not ask to "set file".

I tried selecting the "file / set folder", and tried okaying my EVE folders. There are 2 places EVE installed, in Program Files (x86) and Program Data... nothing happens...

... TriExporter continues to mock me.

Thank in advance for any help y'all can provide. Big smile

Unfortunately, TriExporter doesn't work anymore since the file structure it was designed for was replaced with the new Download on Demand cache system. Until a new tool is written or TriExporter is updated, the assets are out of our reach.

I took a look at this today and I've now got a version of this working with the shared cache.

I just need to try to speed up the index parsing a bit since it currently takes about a minute to load and process the index, but either way I'll push it to Github tomorrow and post a test build.

Edit: This is actually up now.

Fresh version of dll most likely. Try newer one from Divinity:OS game, for example.

The Unstuff option seems to be gone- is there a way to get the .dds files out otherwise?

And anyhow- thanks so much for fixing this :)

I just removed all of the stuff-related code, leaving it there wouldn't have done anything since the stuff files don't exist anymore and I didn't realize there was a need to extract individual files.
I'll add something back for this in the next few days.

In TriExporter just go to File -> Set folder and select your EVE folder. It will read the index from there and will get the SharedCache path from the registry.

This has been re-added in the latest build: https://github.com/evem8/triexporter/releases/download/v0.5.1.1/TriExporter-0.5.1.1.zip

You might want to make a new post to let people know that a new working version is out. Hopefully it'll get stickied Big smile

So, I've found this version to work to the point where I can view the res folder and navigate to the ships I want to export, but the problem still being when I double click any of the .gr2 files TriExporter crashes, and I've not found any current solutions to the issue. Has anyone had this issue recently or have a solution for this issue?

Thank you so much for the updated files!

If the older Triexporter worked for you try using the granny2.dll you had with that.
I just included the latest version I could find, but from the older threads it seemed like different people have problems with different versions for some reason.

Awesome thanks for the updated files! I can open and view the models, but I'm still running into some issues when it comes to actually working with the files (I'm using the E-UNI: Rendering EVE Models class YouTube tutorial). It looks like there were some changes to how the image textures were assembled, so if anyone happens to know where I can find an updated guide it'd be greatly appreciated.

Well, there's an old devblog about how they pack their textures: Here. This devblog explains how the textures were packed previous to V3 and the system they moved into with V3 complete with a nice little graphic.

Then there is The Future Of Spaceship Rendering video from fanfest this year that explains the new system they are moving to. I don't know if they've started migrating to the new system or not but they show a slide that indicates how the textures will be packed and say that it will be available online sometime in the future.

they basicly switched from the old color maps (diffuse maps) to PBR, This means that alot has changed in the workflow of recreating the colors and all details.
check out this link for more on the physically based Rendering stuff:

Nice to see triexporter working still.

Something I never could figure out was how you decide which .dds files to select and their order of application. Was just messing around with the nyx and just chose the first .dds 3 times and the png created after exporting is transparent in photoshop.

Also it seems like there's still a handful of textures that aren't coming out right.

Hurricane is one I've seen so far.
