Hi everyone !

At first I'd like to apologize for the misstake I could do, I am not an english native speaker.

I come here to share with you a problem that happened to me a couple of days ago and that appeared to repeat tonight...

I was AFK for a while, in stand-by, online and docked. After a while my computer turned in sleep mode and when I came back I was disconnected from EVE. It seems it broke my client because for the 2nd time I can't connect to the game anymore, as soon as I load the station environement I got a socket closed error (2 messages appear) and can't do anything else quitting and restarting.

I don't really know the origin of this error but it seems to be reccuring as it is the second time it happen, for the same reason.

It seems not to happen when I'm not connected on WIFI aswell...

let me summarize:

[I'm IDLE in station, connected on my laptop with WIFI ]
v
[after a while my computer turn automatically in sleep mode] (might aswell stop WIFI connection)
v
[once I come back the client crash and then it's impossible to connect again]

I will now have to reinstall the full game, as I did the last time...

Am I the only one in that case? Do someone have an idea of the origin of this problem?

Regards,

Aro'

(ps: I already set-up my computer to never get in sleep mode again so might not happen anymore but I wanted to share this event with you guys)

EDIT :

Go to the Control Panel, System and Security, Under the Firewall setting Windows Defender, It has been blocked, you have to allow EVE past Windows Defender.

Once that is done you should have no problem. If you continue to leave EVE running AFK it will drop EVE to your task bar after 3 to 5 minutes but it will still be running. Just remember that or you will be ganked a lot. To avoid it just wiggle your mouse or spin in a station.

Windows 8 and 8.1 both run a duel-security setup, you can allow a program past the firewall and it will go around Defender. However if you let your computer go to sleep mode, the program in question will be allowed by the Windows Firewall, but Windows Defender will think it is a virus and shut it down.

Well, the original disconnect is because your wifi is cutting off when the computer goes to sleep. It's a power saving feature. Not sure why that would affect your ability to log back in though.

Client probably crashed badly and something is messed up. It's rare but still happens once in a while.

Sounds like the client isn't accepting the sleep command as a graceful closure and is crapping the bed. I might set up a power plan that disallows sleep while plugged in or disable sleep/hibernation altogether.

PS, don't uninstall/reinstall every time. That's just silly. Try a cold reboot (full power off, disconnect AC power) instead.

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

Want to make New Eden a nice place? Try this out.

I already tried all those kind of stuff last time, also tried to repair the client, to log in without the luncher, my game is actually broken :/

Try disconnecting your modem from power for 10 seconds.

thats normal. your session expires because your client is suddenly gone from the point of view of the server. Its just as if you would unplug your NW cable while playing.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

You must read the other half as well.
His issue isn't that he disconnected while in stand-by,
but that now he can not properly re-connect to the game anymore.

When the problems are in the title .... why even ask a question? P

P.S. To give you some false hope, sometimes when a session ends on the client machine it continues running on the server and could corrupt there.

Yeah, I could see the client running without an internet connection causing a problem.

How long are we talking on these afk sessions? They wouldn't happen to run through downtime, would they?

I am running Windows 8.1, this problem also happened on my computer also.

Go to the Control Panel, System and Security, Under the Firewall setting Windows Defender, It has been blocked, you have to allow EVE past Windows Defender.

Windows 8 and 8.1 both run a duel-security setup, you can allow a program past the firewall and it will go around Defender. A permanent fix for this problem is to install windows 7 {the version the rest of the productive world uses for good reason}

Have had win 8 sleep mode disconnect me numerous times from eve, never had an issue logging back in. Something else is the problem here. But either a) logging off before walking away , or b) disabling sleep mode should solve the problem until you can fix what ever is actually causing this issue.

Edit: should have read further down I see your problem is resolved

Meh, WiFi has come along enough that it may as well be as stable as hard wired. The only times I've had issues with WiFi cutting out or lagging, was always ISP related.

I suggest a reinstall since a file that EVE wanted to write to could have been corrupted And is still floating around in the files.

Definite possibility that it's within the settings themselves.
