Picking fights (collaboratively)

After this last return to the game, I found picking fights in high sec harder than it used to be.

I play in a mission hub called Umokka. There are a few miners. It's sleepier than I remember.

I'm struggling to get people to "red box."

Can baiting almost doesn't work anymore. I've had very limited success with mission baiting

Tossing cans and driving around flashing yellow is both very dangerous and ineffective, I spent most of a day doing that to no avail.

Duel requests have proven generally crap for me. I was about to give up again when I saw one of my old pvp buddies. He and I staged a fake fight and inspired some locals.

Here is the one thing that still works: smack talk.

Specifically, get a buddy and stage a very uninformed fight/argument in local channel. Acting like a moron is good, people enjoy shooting at morons. People will get drawn into the drama(or pushed from the grind of PVE) and before you know it you'll be getting fights and drawing spectators.

I advise that you should keep it fun for all involved, and the funnier and stupider you are the better chance you have of getting a fight. Make sure you aren't flying a nice ship, it's not believable.

If you want to fight, you have to create an adversary. Local is a powerful tool for creating drama and inspiration for fighting.

What tricks do the rest of you have to share for getting fights? I shared what's working for me. Let's collaborate!

Killing the people baiting has become less work than actually baiting sadly.
Duel people that you see sending out duels Or accepting.
Find a large group trying to kill suspects or criminals and duel them all.
Hull tank suspect baiting.
Last moment criminal pod loss baiting, make sure your clone is in the desired station.
War.

I am just here to snuggle and do spy stuff.

There is a guy doing it very well in Osmon, goes suspect in a freighter outside the SOE station, then they decide to shoot him with a mission ship and he docks up and comes out with a Proteus and his neutral RR's and kills them, I think that is actually more fun than can baiting, though he did lose a freighter once when someone bumped him off the station, he certainly had some skin in that game...

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

+1 for pod loss baiting. I never thought of that. Good ideas.

Yeah, I'm trying to learn to do the pvp.

Any tips on how I could learn it? I can fly up to a battleship!

Patience. Mission flipping is hit and miss. I've gone 3-5 days with no bites, while actively trying for 3-4 hours each day. It's a pretty autistic way of killing things, but can result in some glorious killmails. If you want to flip, just keep at it.

Personally I find linking crappy fit blingy domi mission fits in local and asking for fitting help while I salvage in a self named domi brings all the can flippers. Their tears are glorious. But that's probably the opposite of what you're trying to do. Honestly incursus looting their wrecks... someone put out a guide for this. But honestly the ninjas cry harder then the mission runners. And the mission runners pay for killing them !!

PS linking 2bil isk domi fits once had the added bonus of earning me a half dozen or more kill rights cause nobody scanned the fit...

You can always suspect bait on a trade hub, it works heavily around engagement timers, basically you want to get so that your suspect timers runs out you still have a limited engagement timer with one person you can kill. Like say you bait with a bait tanked Tengu. People start shooting at you, you pick out a target, like say a dragoon or something, and you play you timers to a point where when exit suspect, you still have a timer with the dragoon. Sometimes you'll still have a timer with a few others, but basically you just up ship to something that can kill your target quickly and still live for a minute after you take him out.

Ship up from tengu to something that can sucessfully kill a Dragoon stupid enough to fire at said bait tengu on hub.

Any more expert advice?

Ok, so you ragged on the guy who gave good advice.

Then someone helped you understand you were wrong, so you insulted his playstyle.
