Considering there seems to be a goal of removing attributes and learning implants, I somehow doubt that re-introducing learning skills would make anything better.

^ Amen to that.

It's dead for a reason...let it be.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

A better question would be "Why were they ever in the game in the first place?". I mean seriously. Who sat down and thought that up and said to themselves "Hey! This will be really fun! Everyone will love this!"

I have a suspicion that they are a legacy from the games EvE is descended from.

Do you want a game that turns off new players? Because this is how you get a game that turns off new players.

Instead of this, why not introduce an undocking skill which you need to train to level V in order to undock; it would have a similar effect.

To summarise then:

They should definitely be re-introduced
and give out one million ISK per level,
multiplied by the amount of skills one has already.

All non-specialist skills are bad.

Fitting skills? They're just as bad because the meta list goes backwards to hurt new players and reward veterans with the ability to more easily fit oversize modules.

The skill trees should be about getting people to dabble in professions and choose specialities.

That's it. The idea that they keep players around or coming back on the basis of the sunk-cost fallacy is an illusion. If players have fewer other players to encounter, it simply increases the likelihood that they will get bored of the game and leave.

I had all the learning skils to 5 but i worked on them between core skills. I dont miss them one bit.

back before skill queues they were kinda nice to have something that took a few days to train that you could train when you were going to be gone for a day or two, I guess learning skills had at least that going for them Roll

Learning skills provided naught but onanistic pleasure for minmaxers and dreary drugework for all others.

This game is made by Icelandic people. They live on a barren rock and eat rotten sharks. I don't think they have a word for fun or understand its meaning.

Two words: No.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

They adjusted our attribute pool when they took them out. They gave us the skill bonuses in attributes. If they returned the skills I would expect them to lower base attributes again as well.

Most of us older players wouldn't care one way or the other. We are training 5's we will never use as it is.

Definitely not. And learning implants should be removed too.

They should but not exactly the same way.

You would have to pick one learning skill in combat, one in industry, one in leadership, one in corporation management and uhhh what else is there, trade? Oh and science.

Then you could pick one sub skill in each, +5 attribute bonus/ level when learning a specific skill related to each field, so for example if you picked small blasters, you would have a bonus to learning the small blaster skills.

Think of these as talent skills, everyone gets to be good at training one thing really well.

I wanted to get peoples take on the old learning skills that were around when eve first started during the exodus times. skills that increased the speed of training and skills that added attribute points. They certainly helped new players with learning skills quicker and in the long run it could shave days off of the final training time. Should those be put back in the game?

I did train a new character and started with those pesky learningskills. Maxed before I even started training something like Amarr frigate 4.
When they removed them I was kinda sad. All that "work"... But reimbursing the skills and re-alocating them was awesome :)

You want to train faster. Everybody wants to train faster. That's why implants sell.

My answer is "no" for a myriad of reasons. All of them already mentioned tho...
