I play Eve and WoW at the sametime sometimes. I get Socket Errors and logged out of eve and takes a long time to get back in, yet WoW is perfectly fine and no lag????

Want to explain this?
CCP have detected that you have WoW installed and are sending you subliminal messages about it Twisted

Seriously can you explain how running 2 MMOs at the same time

I bolded your problem. EVE doesn't get along well with other apps using network resources. The more resources other apps are using, the more likely you are to get a socket error from EVE.

This has been true for years.

+ download on demand bandwidth competition now.

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Download a program called "Pingblotter"
Ping the EvE Online Server and look for packet loss.

If you find packet loss and it's on your side of the "demarcation point" than the problem is inside your home or on the lines immediately outside your home. So ingress or poor wiring.

If you find packet loss and it's several "hops" outside your home then jot down those IPs and run a "WHOIS".
This allows you to find out who is responsible for the upkeep and proper maintenance of those nodes.

If those nodes are owned by your ISP, than you need to contact your isp and tell them to fix their stuff.

Or

If those nodes are not owned by your ISP you need to contact whoever does manage them and alert them to the problem.

For speed tests use http://testmy.net/, don't use speedtest.net as it's compromised and produces false information. I don't like false information.

I am going to run both just to give you an idea of how to do this.

This is my speed, keep in mind speed alone will not make eve work. You need to have a connection that isn't dropping packets. Most of the socket closed errors are from packet loss.

This is my packet loss. 0%
Notice the "destination unreachable" is just saying that you are unable to ping the server to death, it's a security measure. the 100% is the same on my side of the demarc. The packet loss you want to concern yourself with is anything in between the 2 things.

Hope this helps!

It is a general and well known problem with America for about a year now that is affecting multiple games.

yeah seems they dont buy enough bandwidth, then set domestic accounts to lower priority than corporate

being cynical its a back door way of imposing tiered service, giving em a perverse arguement against net neutrality

For some months now I have been experiencing major disruptions in my game play.
I keep getting socket closed disconnected which totally sucks when your in e middle of a mission or a battle.
This happens everytime I log in.
I have contacted my ISP and they say everything is okay at there end no problems. I don't have any issues with any other system here in the UK. This disconnection happens on my laptops, Imac and PC.
I go on regular business trips and have had the disconnection happen in Spain and Belgium.
I have raised a ticket and CCP have basically said they can't help.
I have not renewed training on my other account toons because what is the point if i can't get any enjoyment from the game.

It will only be a matter of time before I cancel my main account.

If anyone else is experiencing this issue please post

This happens to me every so often, ive found that unplugging my internet router and rebooting my machine solves this issue as it stops happening.
