So now there are few ways to go about it

1. cry and whine, and ask for the game to be changed to YOUR liking (which may or may not interfere with the way others actually do have fun with)

2. adapt and evolve

CCP already, I believe, made it clear that they don't see ganking as violation of their EULA
so this is not going away, deal with it.

so either adapt and evolve and find out other ways to have fun
either keep playing a *game* that is not fun to you (it's not supposed to be fun for everyone), which is pretty stupid, as games are meant to be fun

or just find another game to play; a game where you can actually have fun.

it's just sad to see people logging in even tho they don't have fun with the game anymore. sounds like something rather unhealthy to me.

just trying to help

relax, it's just a freakin video game, you don't want to be that guy flipping out about a video game do you?

If you read the forums as I have done since I have been playing you will notice firstly how lame the forums are, I used to really enjoy reading C&P, now its an echo chamber for people who do not do anything in game. And yet they post as if they do, its rather sad. So all I am doing is having fun by pointing out that fact, if you think I am in anyway freaking out then I suggest you need to look at yourself.

In affect I just took an obvious pile of bull and flogged it to death for lols, and while doing so I had the pleasure of seeing them all talk like carebears, saying ISK generation is more important than blowing up stuff, it was pure pleasure for me.

CODE are content creators, they are fun, the setup is rather amusing and is fun to get in the way of, they are now rather ineffectual in terms of mining ships, they just kill noobs that are stupid, so they have moved off to do freighter ganks as part of Miniluv, they are very good at it and the struggles around a bumped freighter have been epic, some times they kill it and sometimes the AG group save it.

Marmite just camp hubs and pipes with fast locking ships and mainly kill noobs, they are very good at what they do, if you go after them with an organised fleet they run. I had a friend who was once a leader in the Orphanage and Marmite are effectively them but now, he liked talking about the approach, I listened to what he had to say. It is interesting to see just how fractured the hisec war deccers have become again.

So just chill out about people playing forum games, I had fun pulling the leg of someone I consider as full of hot air, nothing more than that, but if you want to see it as freakin out then that is your problem....

never said anything about freaking out
just trying to point out the fact that it's just a video game, no need to be that serious about it.

again, trying to help

I once was that kind of player, "that guy" bitchin and whining about how such and such players are "unfair" and how the "devs" should change said game to accomodate my preferences.

didn't work, didn't help, I wasn't having any fun at all, but it felt like I "had to" login anyway, like some sort of job with tasks and a schedule and whatnot.

then I realized how much fun I didn't have, and the decision to quit playing was hard (I was addicted), but extremely beneficial.

Now I do engage in forum conversation, especially this one, because I don't want others to feel what I've felt, to be stuck in a game that isn't fun anymore.

I'm not here to antagonize anyone (which is what you seem to have understood)

We're adults for the most part, each second that passes will be lost forever, it's gone, one more second out of your life, and then one more etc... you get the picture.

so we're fortunate enough to be able to actually play amazing video games on our fancy computers, for extended periods of time and still have food and shelter and friends and opportunities etc...

so since we're fortunate, we should be grateful to have so many video games to spend our time on. If this one isn't fun for you or for anyone, there are almost million other possibilities to have fun playing a game.

But once the game isn't a game anymore, once it's not fun anymore, it's just time to move on and do something else. It just doesn't make sense to play a game that isn't fun.

Of course its a game, I treat it as such, but many of the people go deeper then just the game they want to get at the player themselves, this is what you see when they drone on about tear collecting.

You are of course buying into the HTFU narrative, for example I for a long time was asking CCP to do something about the stupid tank of mining ships especially after the DPS of destroyers was buffed, not because I was whining about the ganking, but because the balance was wrong, yet the HTFU crowd kept telling me I was whining or changing the game into a theme park, rubbish, I saw a balance issue, they wanted easy kills and the ability to get tears out of helpless players by killing their expensive ships in cheap throwaway ships. If you take the time to notice if you mine in a properly tanker procurer or Skiff you are now relatively safe, CCP finally adjusted the balance, a bit late but they did. Now the gankers have to actually lose ISK to kill those two ships which is why they do not bother, that my friend is a balance issue, not turning Eve into a theme park.

As for the fun and games here, I mentioned an exploitation of the fleet hanger mechanics and point out that no one in the AG group had complained about it, to which the poster I went after jumped in and called me a name and took my post out of context as part of his game, so I decided to pull his chain and generate some tears from him over multiple threads, he got all defensive, mission achieved. He opens his mouth to me when I post again I will go for him again until he keeps away from me, thats a game, Eve has consequences even when forum warrioring...

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

Everyone has an ego, though the important part that many people don't get is to accept it when other people are better then you, play to your strengths and accept your own limitations, that is happiness.

Sure..I understand your point. But what is it that makes one better than another? That is where the thin line between confidence and arrogance is crossed. It really depends on what you define as better...which, of course, differs to different people...but yes, you are right to a point. Blink

I just realized something.

For my playstyle (casual conflict, making jokes, confusing issues, inspiring fights, etc...), the forum has actually surpassed Eve in the quality of the player interaction.

Admittedly, I can't station hump here, which saddens me.

This is exactly the experience I used to try to create in local chat. They have now just moved it to the forums. I can't make miners and mission runners participate as easily as I once could.

Also, I'm the guy who isn't doing anything in game and who pvp's on the forums, which leads me to my next point:

My forum-pvp-killboard would be better than Dracvlad's, I bet, if I had one.

listen, this HTFU thing, I didn't need EVE to get it. if you find EVE is tough and unfair, wait til you see a little bit of life

there's only one way forward, and this way isn't complaining or asking other people to change the way things are

it's about what YOU wanna do, and what YOU do about it.

and also about how you go about failures and setbacks. Those are learning experience, positive

it can also be liberating to accept that one will never be able to fix everything, the "wrongs" are inherent part of human nature, violence, thievery, lies and deception are as much a part of who we are as music, science, poetry or compassion.

We are the priviledged ones, we actually get to play video games (which is an exception, not the norm, worldwide) AND have opportunities to make our life better as well.

I'll thank video games everyday for what they brought me, confidence in creating my own business being a major consequence of me playing online games.

But when you put that much work into a game, and maybe not enough into real life achievements, maybe you're doing something wrong, maybe it's a loss of both time and energy.

EVE is not the real world, the "money" made there won't buy you food or a home or even a car.

it's saddening to see that much energy wasted, and I know from experience that the very same energy can be used to make one's life that much better.

But it's important to understand where the game begins and ends and where your energy and time should be directed in priority (btw, I'm writing this from my shop, in between customers, if you were wondering or telling me I spend too much time here ;) )

I'd definitely recommend you to learn a little more about CODE. before making assumption.

I do agree with them in regard of the fact that if people log in, they should actually play and enjoy themselves rather than paying an actual subscription to not play and basically clutter the space.

Any game, just such as life, it's all about the experience, not the reward. AFK mining is all about the reward, nothing about the actual experience.

Now, I'll admit, I could just move on and not care, to be honest, I care much less than my post tend to show.

But since it's an open/sandbox game, I completely understand if people go into the business of ganking afk-ers. And they're pretty "roleplay" about it too. They're not stupid morons, they're actually good people, intelligent people who, contrary to many others, play their game from behind their computer and actually have fun playing it.

And I'd rather share the space about people who are behind their screen, rather than hoards of afk bots.

you know, it's about community, human interaction, the "multiplayer" part of "MMORPG"

I like the idea of playing with other people
if I wanted to play with bots, I'd play a solo game

now thank god there are still lots of people actually playing the game, and I'm having a blast playing with them :D

I'd love the AFK-ers to have as much fun

Have you looked at your own posting objectively?

On a side note, your accusations about my lack of PvP knowledge are flawed.

I've never told people how to PvP as that's not my field of expertise. What I have done is advised them how to avoid it by using the available tools, game mechanics and some basic planning to their advantage, most of which is in line with the advice that gankers themselves hand out; not that many take that kind of advice because it involves effort and paying attention to the game instead of watching faptube while mining or autopiloting their hauler full of shinies into Uedama.

For the record; while I have liked my own posts with an alt in the past, I haven't done so in months.
