Mining too, I trained for L1 to L4 missions to gain standings for LP store (implants and such) but mine 90% of my gametime in highsec and by very short period in provi to have enough nocxium megacyte mercoxit and such.

Manufacturing, be it T1 or even T2 is fun and even without being very lucrative make for some change. Compressing ore is a must, even if it's just for selling the compressed ore.

Having its own POS doesn't cost that much, if you have one just for compressing you only need enough fuel to anchor it for 1 or 2 hours per week depending of how much compressed ore you can haul.

I did some research alongside manufacturing and bought some T2 components BPO to build some T2 cruisers there and here, but I have no idea how to make money selling copies though. And I do very little inventions to manufacture my owns T2 mining crystals, since my research agents give me the Datacores needed.

Some years I mined in nullsec in a corp, but honestly that was not that great, not bad but so much more hassle for little more reward.

Don't forget PI, especially if you're near a NRDS null-space or calm lowsec, it's very little effort for a constant income.

In the name of Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen : “Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.”

What about "hidden belts"? I'm not entirely clear on what these are or where I can find them, because there seems to be a lot of lingo about anomalies and sites and stuff that I don't know, and the guides I try to find to explain this stuff haven't helped me understand.

Hidden belts are the old name for asteroid belts spawned in sovereign nullsec systems. In the past, they used to be "hidden" and you had to scan them down. Now, they have the green diamond and you can warp directly to them. They are anomalies that show up when you use the scanner interface (such as ice belts, or combat sites with names like "Blood Hideaway" ).

The best explanation of what is inside these belts is Bloodtear Industry Report. While this is dated 2012, it is still the latest one.

Currently, the only way to get them is to own sovereignty, install an infrastructure hub (commonly called I-Hub) and install industry upgrades. To activate the spawning mechanism, you'll need people mining in the system. The Bloodtear industry report gives numbers for how much m3 needs to be mined per day to get levels 1 through 5 spawning.

This summer's sov upgrades (entosis stuff) will render this post obsolete.

This is actually a little bit off. You can find mining anomalies in high sec as well, however they don't have the variety that the null ones have. Usually they will have 2-3 different ores within them, either high sec ores or low sec, never null. They come in sizes large, medium, or small, which will be stated in the name of the anomaly (along with what ore it contains).

So far, I've got ~4 million SP on a few different accounts. I've only been playing for a few weeks recently, so I'm pretty much a noob apart from the reading I've done on various aspects of the game since I started up again. I've been mining in a pretty remote area of highsec to avoid gankers and competition and using industrials to haul ore/minerals to the nearest hub for sale, then upgrading my ships, implants, modules, etc., as possible.

I sold characters I played originally and gave away the proceeds when I quit, which was a decent idea since I ended up going several years before trying Eve again and the people I knew back then used that isk and are still playing through today. Meanwhile, I have new characters I'm playing now. It's not that complicated.
