Project Insight: A Drifter/Sleeper Research Group

Consider this is a place to report data on the new Drifter/Sleeper threat and anything related to it: Data on previous engagements, theories on there origins, interactions with other groups, there wormholes, there technology, and even how the world has responded to it and maybe some recent suspicious events.

As a starter I would like to say it is apparent we don't know as much about the Sleepers as we thought we did. Also, there was recently a report on a Capsuleer supposedly 'Feeding a Drifter'. Based on this report, it would seem that the Drifter only collects newly ejected Corpses, and only one at a time. For example, if you deployed two within milliseconds of each other, the Drifter would only collect the first one you ejected. However, if you scoop the corpses and eject it again by itself, the Drifter will collect it. This could be a intelligent assumption on their part that the newly deployed, fresh corpses would be more valuable. However, if you think about it more deeply, it could have alternative meanings. For example, if they indeed had methods for storing a corpse and keeping it stable until they used it, would they not want to collect the latest ejected one, as to reduce the amount of work needed to restore it to whatever level they need the corpse at? Perhaps they do not in fact store the corpses, but instead have onboard methods of converting the body to Drifter. Or maybe they salvage the brain tissue or something of the like? This is further supported by the fact that the Drifter didn't immediately warp home to put away the corpse.

We are Toralen Industries. It doesn't matter if you fight for money, idealogies, or because it's what you are good at and it doesn't matter if you fight threw trade, combat, or diplomacy. No matter what or how you fight, there's a place for you.

You've probally read my post on the new anomaly (somebody please give me a name) and have come over here to respond. As such, we need to figure out what's going on in Jovian Space, or if this threat is in our space. If it is in our space, then consider it a call to war. We need to understand this threat and now.

How can you be sure it's actually an anomaly, or anything that wasn't already there?

You might be right, though recently there's been a lot of claims of "new anomalies" turning out to be quite normal things that've existed for a very long time. People tend to get a little excited in times like these, evidenced even by the front page of the IGS which as of now contains close to ten threads on this overall topic, including one that was already an attempt to consolidate all this information.

I commend your efforts, but dunno how you'll go with this thread, sir. Seems pilots struggle with this consolidation thing. Everyone wants to be the centerpiece of the next big discussion, or the namesake of the next big anomaly.

Though if you're after suggestions - Erica's Star sounds good to me.

Y'know what, you don't have to propose a new thing every time you become interested in something. There are already research groups that would be happy to have you participate. Maybe try them?

Cute. Should probably wait until the thing is confirmed as an actual thing before we go embarrassing my sister, no...?

In which case I feel such anomalies should be named after those who discovered it to begin with and / or confirmed that it was actually anomalous at all.

Send me a message containing some of them. Project Insight was created by me solely because I thought most research groups were Corporations. As I have a Corporation to manage, I cannot simply quit it to join a research group, although I would be very interested in forming a Joint-Corporation Task Force.

This thing is most deffinently an anomaly. I do not yet know if it just visible in Luminaire, or if it is visible galaxy wide (I can't travel galaxy-wide without being blown up at least 60 times) but it is there. I was at the Caldari Memorial when I discovered it.

Also, on the note of researching the Drifters and there threat, has anyone attempted my Energy Vampire theory?

You're basically describing the exact structure of the Arek'Jalan Project. They recently had a major conference in Seylin. I know they have a number of communications networks set up, although I don't participate in them.

It should be relatively easy for you to find them if you look.

True. people like to be famous, especially us, capsuleers.

Dailar Toralen, if you are truly interested in scientific discussion, I suggest you head to established projects.

Arek'Jaalan's effort would be one of them. It is an open and well-established scientific community, channel frequency is "Arek'Jaalan" ((OOC is "AJ: OOC")), mailing list is "Arek'jaalan", everything is open for discussion, you are welcome.

Makoto Priano runs her own effort on studying recently uncovered Antikythera Elements, you can help her here.

Yep, but there's a difference between wanting to be famous and being desperate to be famous.

Also a big difference between earning it as an individual and jumping on something else's coat-tails.

IGS reeks of it recently ...

I'm already famous. I'm actually so famous I'm in-famous.... I'm infamous.

Ay, I remember at least 4 cases of capsuleers trying to give a name to a neighbouring star, funtimes.

I'm just mad because I don't have a star yet.

Also other reasons. But yeah, mostly that.

We're working on it.

Right behind the missing scientist we were asked to help find, and the wormhole generator we've been asked to build.

Take a number, Miss Candi.

Wow, you girls are gonna be pretty busy when Jazmin officially opens Division 13.

Look forward to your IGS thread?

I guess Candi's star can wait...
