Seeing someone post compliments about EVE just made my day... So used to see people complain over the most stupid things.

Well, it's one pretty sweet a*s game.

I do have one complaint though.

I want more Caldari ships that look like the Cormorant and the Moa...cause them Caldari Battle-cruisers are ugly as heck.

And don't even get me started on the Battleships.Smile

There you sadden'd me by far... I love the look of the Ferox battlecruiser. I think it is one of the coolest looking ships in the game, 2nd to the Chimera.

Keep going OP, learn as you play. I must say that stasis webifiers are a sci-fi thing imo, some kind of energy flux/web that holds back a ships mass or something like it. In eve while direct targeting of railguns and blowing them up individually is not possible [atm], the targeting of the systems of a ship is possible [some guns use energy so draining a targets capacitor to remove their ability to fire is possible, using resistances on your own ship to negate the ammo they are firing, moving closer or away from them to negate their range, things like that.

Always remember eve is a pvp game, no exceptions with any of its interactions.

What's this fascination with "targeting subsytems" as if that would somehow make combat more interesting.

All subsytem targeting would do is drastically reduce the amount of damage you have to deal to win a fight.

It was kind of fun to do in the X-Wing/TIE Fighter and Wing Commander series…

…where it was also largely pointless, since you might as well just blow the ships up or disable them in about the same amount of time. Not to mention that the kind of disabling you could do there can also largely be done in EVE, but in a more meaningful way.

It was basically the same effect as a webifier in EvE, the enemy ship slowed down (though irreversible) when damaged for the final blow. But a comparison of a single-player pigeon shooting game with a PvP game is not fair anyway. EvE is IMO brilliant in making fights exciting till the last second, because it ignores "physics".

I just think it's hilarious that while reading this very thread, Mr. Sawaraj pops up in our home hole.

Yep, no fun.

But I guess to stay within the rules AND have fun ...
... you could create a thread in C&P ...
... post the links in it and crosslink from here.

Oh hello ISDs ... don't mind me I'm just kidding... ^_^

At last. Someone who gets it! (This crowd is so addicted to webscram you're saying "take the bleggy from the babies" with this. Prepare for several "knowledgeable and irrefutable" arguments to the contrary. LoL spells. That's funny. Good one.)

I would have no problem with webs and scrams being removed, assuming that propmods went with them. Better yet, get rid of long points too, and make it so bubbles are the only tackle and can be used in any space. ;)

EDIT: would need to get rid of nullification as a mechanic as well though, for that last part.

He wants people to use weak unbonused guns instead of have a group of friends with a good fleet composition.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

One thing you need to get used to is size. The smallest pilotable ships in EVE, frigates, are roughly the size of a 747. That is the smallest ones - often zooming around at 3-5kps (when it comes to light frigs and interceptors) at range up to 20-24km (sometimes more). Some battleships rock around 1km, capitals are around/more than that, titans something like 14-15km.

Subsystem targeting? Well, you are kind of talking about applying say, a volley of 150mm rounds to a target moving around at 3km/s, 10km away from you. It's good that you actually do hit it at all (and you sometimes don't!). Subsystem targeting would make sense when it comes to something like brawling battleships, though even then it's debatable.

Subsystem damage is done in a different way - mostly through various forms of electronic warfare. ECM hits targeting directly (if successful, target loses lock), tracking disruption impacts all weapons but missiles, sensor dampening increases the amount of time it takes to lock a target/decreases lock range.

For shields/armour repair, you've got another magic box - the neutralizer. Killing the capacitor of your enemy causes their hardeners to stop cycling, and if they're active tanked (and not ancillary-shield) - kills the shield boost too. No hardeners means more incoming damage.

Of course, they each can be countered (unlike having your subsystem destroyed) - ECCM, sensor booster, cap injector/vamp, tracking computer.

Shallow combat... yeah, if you haven't tried PvP yet, wait until that happens. Once you rack up some kills, you will understand how shallow managing your simple hitpoint tank and simple dps is when speed, ranges and tracking enter play. Of course, then there's all things I mentioned above - capacitor warfare, ewar of various types... and then heat mechanics. And boosters.

(Of course, we're still talking solo combat. When it comes down to gangs, we're starting to talk about links, group tactics, dedicated ewar and tacklers, doing your job and staying alive, knowing what target to pick when fighting another group...)

PDS is... well, not exactly a great idea - PDS at most would protect you from light strikecraft - drones. At the moment that can be done by having drones of your own. When looking at the battleship you shouldn't compare it to something that can shrug off lighter craft and truck on - that's the job of a Supercarrier. Battleships are, well, Battleships - exactly as it says on the tin, ships that have historically sailed with escorts as their guns were simply incapable of hitting anything closer than the horizon.
