Thinking of trying the Angel Epic Arc on a decently skilled pilot - will the claw work ok?

If so, could use some suggestions on fits please...

Could carry a mobile depot - if it makes sense - so could have a couple different fits.

Tweaked this fit I found on battleclinic...

[Claw, Angel Epic ...]
Gyrostabilizer II
Small Armor Repairer II
Damage Control II
Limited Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I

Small Capacitor Booster II
Limited 1MN Afterburner I

200mm AutoCannon II
200mm AutoCannon II
200mm AutoCannon II
'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I

Small Projectile Ambit Extension I
Small Projectile Burst Aerator I

I haven't actually run the Pirate Epic Arcs but I do know they were designed to be completed in small hull class ships, particularly Interceptors. The Arc itself takes place in Null sec space so definitely wanna set up safe spots. Fitting a cloak module should help a lot.

I can't say much about the ship fit you posted since I mainly do shield tanks.

Honestly you will probably find yourself bleeding low armor and having to pull range and get your armor back quite a few times with that fit. The rats damage isn't that great, but especially if lots are near you at once it is going to be a bit tough on it. This also means running thru quite a few cap booster charges (remember your cargo is tiny) and while you can dock in NPC null finding cap boosters on the market isn't always so quick.

I used to do them in a light missile crow, but now I do them in a neutron blaster malediction. It can be made cap stable with a single C type rep and due to its armor resist bonus has never made me have to move out from the group and repair armor or have sheilds regen which despite brawling makes it a faster ship than the crow at conpleteing the guristas or angel arcs. It would probably even work without a faction rep, I am just pretty confident at not getting caught, and even if I did I lose ships much more expensive on the regular so it would be no big deal.

I appreciate the observation and feedback Valentina...

I thought about the Crow, but have 0 experience in one - I just favor the Claw.

I'll play around and see what kind of Malediction fit I can come up with...

The Angel arc pirates do quite a bit of damage. I never tried doing them in the Claw, but I feel like you would struggle. I remember having really hard time doing it in PvP-fit inties and I had to refit for PvE to do these missions reasonably. Maybe I am wrong and in PvE claw it would be fine: I just don't have a particularly high opinion of that interceptor.

Any of the AF's do the missions really easy, but.... flying those alone in Curse is much riskier than flying an inty.

I recently ran both the angel and gurista arcs.

I don't know how your skills are but it felt to me like the missions were designed for low sp pilots.

A well skilled inty with a standard pvp fit will do just fine. I used a blaster ranis with structure rigs and an aar.

I never had to warp out of any mission and I ran each arc in one (relatively) short sitting.

My only real advice would be to set up a jump clone out there so that you can pop back out in 3 months and do it again.

Good luck.

Thanks Maksim & Praxis for the input...

I would rate my skills as pretty good, however my actually piloting ability is maybe average... :) The Claw was the initial thought because I had one and had some very limited experience in one - weak reasons I know.

I will look at the 'ranis - i was struggling to come up with a malediction blaster fit I felt comfortable with.

I would recommend a pulse crusader, good projection and all the benefits of an inty.

Late followup... Blaster Taranis worked just fine - in spite of the pilot ;) ...

Aren't these the missions you can run in a Tristan?

Yes, but a Tristan actually beats most interceptors in how useful it is for frig level pve. Interceptors might be tech 2 but they are hardly better than tech 1 frigs, they merely have bonuses which make getting around nullsec quite easy.

Well, if the choice is between a T2 frig that cost 15-20mil, and a less than 5 mil fully fit frig, I know which one I will go with.

I did this quite along time ago in a Thrasher with MWD + Cloaky. I'm on the Australia TZ so it's much less crowded and when I did it I only had to get through 1 bubble camp and the rest was smooth sailing. Arty Thrasher absolutely wrecks the missions and you can do it really fast. I've yet to revisit it but as mentioned above I'd probably use a Tristan or if an Inty, the Ranis.

The one whede you are less likely to pop to unfriendlies while also finishing the arc faster?
