So I've been back a while from a long break now and been doing some missions in my old Golem. I used to run Torpedos with Hydraulic bay thrusters and rocket fuel cache partion rigs. But is it better to run Cruise missiles with 2x warhead rigor catalyst rigs? Only running level 4 missions.

my guess would be cruise as torps still suck at applying + low range and only 30% more dps on paper where the applied damage is much smaller

I ran some numbers and the only scenarios where you'll come out ahead with torpedoes is where you can utilize Rage ammunition with 2-3 target painters. Obviously that seriously curtails the range, so my recommendation would be cruise missiles.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Unless you're going to be sitting in the middle of a bunch of cruisers (or larger), I would say cruise missiles. The range on torps is abysmal, even without comparing it to cruise missile range, and combine that with their slow speed and poor application and you are left with something that is definitely inferior to cruises.

Yes. You will have full application down to cruiser size with fury missiles.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

Cruise, Fury ammo, 2x rigor Is, 3-4 PWNAGE TPs.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Cruise Missiles for now, unless CCP makes some serious changes to typical ranges with Torps (Rage in particular) in the future. Javs can make the range issue far less problematic, but applies less damage than Fury and applies it no better. Until Rage is in a better place range wise, torpedoes will likely be a side note for running missions.

Run what ever you want with the Cruise Missiles, but generally the best performance is achieved with 2x Rigor II, no less than 2x Target Painters (Meta or Faction, and I would recommend a third in case of missed cycles) and load up on Fury missiles (Precisions can be helpful against elite frig rats, but use Fury for everything else).

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."
